"We had 2-3 years of constant road work as a result of storm Sandy (gas line and water line replacement) and there was a crack that expanded over time in the living area on the second floor. We needed to know if it was structural or cosmetic. Anthony arrived on time and began to examine the crack as well as take measurements to determine any significant changes. He was familiar with the land issues in this area, which I appreciated. He explained as he went along and also went to every room in the home and outside for any other evidence of cracks. He was extremely thorough in his inspection and advised how to correct the issue. In addition he also gave tips regarding procedures for any renovations on the property which was extremely helpful. There was a fee for the inspection and an additional fee for a written report. I would definitely hire again if I have any issues."

"They were excellent. They quickly made a draft that only needed 3 minor adjustments. The final product was exactly what I needed. They referred me to a structural engineer for review. The whole process took half of the time that they initially estimated. I would definitely use them again."

High end architect specializing in making a house feel like home!\nI make people’s dream homes a reality. There is nothing more satisfying to me then improving the quality of life for my clients and giving them a house that they are able to make into their homes.\nI have been a licensed architect since 2015 and am currently registered in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Maine and Massachusetts. With my NCARB certificate I am able, if necessary, to obtain reciprocal licensure throughout the country in a short time period. \n\nI am inspired by our local built environment, humble materials, classical building forms and traditional building details. I have a strong interest in the reinterpretation of classical building forms, blended with contemporary open floor plans. \nI have a stronger interest in helping to guide my clients to ways of improving the quality of their lives through adapting the built environment to meet their needs.

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

For structural engineering in White Plains, having original building plans, detailed records of past renovations, and soil or drainage reports is invaluable. Information about the foundation type, history of water intrusion, and any previous foundation repair work helps professionals tailor solutions. Sharing details about utility layouts and HVAC changes ensures that all structural assessments and project plans address unique site conditions and meet current local codes.

Helpful?

In White Plains, structural engineering needs shift as homes age. Early 20th-century houses often require foundation repair and beam reinforcement due to settling and outdated materials. Mid-century homes may face floor joist sagging or moisture intrusion from changing weather patterns. Newer homes benefit from regular structural assessments and proactive maintenance to prevent issues. Freeze-thaw cycles and local soil conditions make ongoing inspections crucial for long-term safety and code compliance.

Helpful?

Homeowners in White Plains often underestimate the time required for permit approvals and the impact of local soil conditions on foundation repair. Many overlook the need for thorough structural assessments and coordination with utility providers before starting work. Seasonal weather, especially freeze-thaw cycles, can delay projects. Additionally, updating older structures to comply with current NY codes and maintaining good communication with neighbors are frequently overlooked but essential steps.

Helpful?

To streamline structural engineering projects in White Plains, start with a comprehensive structural assessment and early permit consultations. Evaluate soil stability and drainage around the foundation, and confirm if your property is in a historic district. Choose contractors experienced with local codes and White Plains’ unique building requirements. Schedule work during milder weather, notify neighbors of upcoming activity, and prepare for unexpected issues common in older homes to avoid delays.

Helpful?

The present condition of your White Plains property directly influences structural engineering strategies. Visible foundation cracks, uneven floors, or signs of water damage require immediate attention and may dictate the scope of foundation repair or reinforcement. Older homes with DIY modifications or those in historic districts may need specialized solutions to preserve character while meeting safety standards. Accessibility and lot size also impact project planning and execution.
