"We got AFM from Angie's list and are very happy that we found him. Anthony was professional and obviously knowledgeable. He assessed the problem and made very reasonable recommendations for a reasonable price. If we need an engineer or house inspector again, he will be our first call."

"Base on the reference i received from a friend of mine I decide to call this company for an estimate...
The estimated price was a little higher than other contractor i had before but I decide to hire Structureline..
The work that was done in my apartment was very impressive...
They did the work very clean also Nicholas helped me out to choose the right tiles and appliance for my bathroom, I am very pleased with the job that was done in my apartment... The inconvenience i had is that  it took almost to finish it..
I will defiantly use them again in the future.
Thanks"

"I am SO HAPPY with the floor plans Gregory did for me. Prior, this had been such a hassle for me trying to get floor plans done for my rental property. Gregory was very patient with me and my many questions. The house is very old with so many corners and small areas. He was prompt and professional. I will definitely recommend him and call him when this type of service is needed"

"BDW Roofing ranks at the top of my list of top quality professional service providers in all that they do. Their work is not the cheapest but it is the best if that is what you are looking for. Don Holohan stands behind his work and his guarantee of lasting performance is outstanding. I fully expect to have him do additional work for me in the future and wouldn't hesitate recommending him to others."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

If your home's foundation was damaged due to shifting soil, the same problem will reoccur unless you stabilize the structure by adding posts in the bedrock.

If you’re building new construction or adding onto your existing home, hiring a structural engineer is not only worth it but it’s probably required by your local building department. Structural engineers will ensure you aren’t making your home unsafe in the building process, which is crucial from a safety perspective but also a legal one. It’s also worth hiring a structural engineer if you’re making changes to structural components, like removing a load-bearing wall.

Signs of structural damage include foundation cracks, roof leaks, bouncy floors, crumbling concrete, and cracked or leaning chimneys. Structural damage can make itself apparent in various ways, and sometimes, there may not be obvious signs. Inspect your foundation and roof annually to stay ahead of potentially serious structural problems.

In many areas, advice from a structural engineer or an architect will be required by your building department before you can remove a wall, but even if it’s not necessary, it’s a good idea. Accidentally removing a load-bearing wall—even if a general contractor advises that it’s safe—can cause major structural damage, putting you and your family at risk and potentially costing thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in property damage.

Generally, you can tell if a home is bolted to the foundation by checking the foundation for plates. If you see that your foundational plates connect to wood or bolts protruding from them, this means that you have a bolted foundation. However, it's always wise to bring a home inspector in to confirm if your foundation is secure.
