"Foreman Tim and crew members Dan and Ty did an excellent job installing a complex series of supports for our basement walls. While they worked hard each day, they were still most accommodating of our needs as homeowners. They moved their equipment several times so that we could be on time for personal commitments, they worked quietly and efficiently (except for the sounds of their equipment, we would hardly have known they were here), and when they were finished, they carefully cleaned our basement before their departure. We enjoyed our experience with Tim, Dan, and Ty, and we’re well pleased with the work they did."

"Two years ago I had hired a concrete mason to skimcoat my walkway. Needless to say his workmanship was lousy. The sidewalk buckled and blew apart during the winter. After observing a concrete mason do a job across from me, i asked him for an estimate. He came over, took some measurements and gave me a fair price on a new sidewalk and pad for precast steps which I had already ordered. I also put him intouch with my next-door neighbor who also wanted a new walkway. He told me to call when we were ready and he would schedule us in. I called twice. My neighbor called three times. No response. So, we wrote him off. I made a few calls for estimates and no one got back to me. Went on Home Advisor and Angies List and put out the call. Chad was the only contractor to reach out. Chad showed up when he said he would for the estimate. His attitude was great and his price was fair. A few days later he had a temporary cancelation and asked if he could squeeze me and my neighbor in. He did not push us to make a decision. just offered an option if we wanted it. I said come on over. Chad and his crew were phenomenal. Showed up on the hottest day of Summer ready to go. These guys did not mess around. They worked non-stop clearing away the old stuff and building forms. The next day they poured the concrete and did the finish work. I made a last minute request while he was forming my front walkway if he would also do my back patio. Chad gave me a great price and the back patio was torn up, hauled away and formed before 6pm. They left no mess; cleaned everything up. Tuesday Chad came back when he said he would to cut the fault-lines in my patio, and as a courtesy parged my neighbors steps and fixed some slate for him. Chad's guys worked through a heatwave, no standing around waiting to be told what to do. They all worked tiresly and knew what to do. And they were all gentlemen, always courteous, never complaining. My wife and I highly recommend Labello's Masonry. We'll be using them again."

"Delanson Gardens did excellent work edging 7 garden beds around my home in Delmar. Doug and his crew installed new aluminum edging and stone borders as well as pulled up/reused aluminum edging borders that were almost entirely buried in the ground. They spread river stone and/or mulch in all garden beds and built a timber border around my shed. Doug skillfully reused some landscaping rocks/stepping stones that were on my property (but not part of the current landscaping). Doug and his crew were courteous and professional. And they did the work on the originally scheduled dates (no delays)."

"In all my years of hiring various contractors for work done on my own place, as well as for work done at some properites I managed for many years, (30)I have never had such excellent work done by any conractor. Not only did All Dry Basement honor their written estimate, they went beyond several times on other things not covered, but related. This was all done in Covid times. All workers were always unfailingly polite, respectful, neat, organized, prompt etc. Fill in the words of your choice for attributes that you would look for in a contactor, and you have a picture of All Dry basement people."

"Damion and crew were hard working and thorough. They removed a very tall pine tree, took away all the debris and ground the stump. They left the property neat and clean. I would definitely recommend this company."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

Yes, brick houses are better insulated, because the bricks slow down the passage of air from the outside to the inside and vice-versa. This helps to stabilize the internal temperature of the home. When combined with proper residential insulation, brick houses are more efficient and better insulated than other types.

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.

Yes, you can cut patio stones with a circular saw. Similar to using an electric grinder, you will need to use a diamond blade as this is the most effective blade for cutting a material like stone. The stone must be wet when using a circular saw to ensure the cut is smooth.

Initially, brick staining is not cheaper than painting. However, while it has a higher up-front cost, it may be more cost-effective in the long run. Brick stain can last for 20 years or longer, compared to paint, which usually starts to peel away in three to five years.
