"Matt was very professional, arrived right on time for both the estimate and for the repair work. Our home is 100 years old with plaster and lath walls and ceilings. Once Matt started the repair he discovered that the ceiling had wallpaper under the stippling. That was a surprise to me but Matt wasn’t phased by it and did a great job repairing damaged sections. He works quick, professionally and is fastidious about cleaning up. I would highly recommend him."

"Ray and his team of three workers came in and did the work very professionally. The work of removing the wallpaper and painting was meticulously done with making sure the kitchen cabinets and appliances were not damaged or paint left on them. His team works well together and helps in getting the job done right."

"Timothy was very professional. He answered my inquiry in a timely fashion and then came on time for his appointment to look at what I wanted and give me an estimate. He then can back as discussed and painted my bedroom ceiling. He took his time and it was done neatly. No paint got on the floor or furniture. As he completed the work he asked I'd he could come back a few days later to see if he had to touch-up anything after seeing the dried results. I thought that was very nice and I appreciated it. I had a wonderful experience with Timothy and would definitely use him again."

"We have been completely remodeling the main floor of our house for several months.  We have done everything ourselves up to this point, but I did not want to do the drywall myself because I simply don't have the time or experience to do a proper job.
Paul told us when he gave us the estimate that he is not the cheapest out there, but his estimate was very competitive with the others we received and he was available when we needed him.  I was a little skeptical that the job could be completed in 2 days, but Paul assured me that he has been doing this a long time and that it should not take more than 2 days.
The specifics of the job were:
Hang and finish new drywall on ~375 square feet of wall, consisting of three separate walls and parts of two others, and also wrapping the ends of several wall sections.
  • Patch/repair several holes, mostly in the ceiling, including two long sections where we removed walls.
  • Scrape and skim coat ~435 square feet of textured ceiling to make it smooth and blend with the rest of the ceiling.

Paul and his crew arrived on time on Monday morning and had all the drywall hung before lunch.  By the end of the day Monday all the taping and first coat of drywall compound was done, and the first coat of skim-coat on the ceiling.  On Tuesday morning they applied the second skim-coat to the ceiling and second coat to all the drywall seams.   After leaving for a few hours to let things dry, they returned Tuesday afternoon to sand everything, and then do a few touch-ups.  It was ready for priming by late Tuesday evening.  I was amazed at how quickly and professionally the job was completed.
Paul also returned on Friday to do a couple of quick touch-ups to small defects that we noticed after we had primed everything.  We are very pleased with how everything looks.  I should also mention that this is our kitchen/living/dining area and there were many electrical boxes, a door, a window, and plumbing to work around.  I am also an engineer and DIYer so I am pretty meticulous about things.  Paul really knows his stuff and I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him.  He is also a very nice guy and his crew were very respectful.

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Wallpaper steamers can be very helpful for removing large sections of wallpaper more easily, but they’re not always a good idea for DIYers. The drywall behind your wallpaper is meant to stay dry, and excessive moisture from improper technique with a wallpaper steamer can leave you with severe wall damage. Drywall also retains moisture, which could result in mold growth over time. It’s best to hire a professional to remove your wallpaper with a steamer to avoid wall damage and related moisture issues.

The average cost to remove wood paneling is $2,800, but total costs may be higher or lower depending on the size of the room, your location, and the amount of prep work required. Once the paneling is gone, you may have additional costs depending on the condition of the wall beneath.

The simple nature of peel and stick wallpaper means it should come off much more easily than traditional wallpaper that is glued to your walls. You’ll still want to work slowly and carefully to avoid tearing it, but most peel and stick wallpaper should come off without a chemical agent to loosen it.

Painting over wood paneling is an option that can save you money and time. However, if you go this route, the style and texture of the wood you paint over will still be evident. Painting over paneling is an excellent way to modernize an otherwise outdated aesthetic. Instead of removing wood panels, consider painting them a bright color–like white or ivory. This is essentially wainscoting, but without any of the required installation.
