We put off painting the bedroom because we thought that the price would be outrageous - it's a very large room with super high ceilings. But we decided to shop around. We had more than five painters come by to give us quotes. When Junior showed up, we could tell that he was a pro but also easy going - how someone is when they are confident about their work. We decided to go with him. He confirmed the start date days in advance and showed up when he promised. The work took exactly as long as he said it would. It's not an easy room - height of ceilings, tons of white beams. Not a speck of slate blue paint where it should not be and the room is as clean now as it was when they arrived. They prepped the walls beautifully. The painting around the white beams, ceiling and baseboards is perfect. Did I say that we're super happy! "It did not go well. He only ended up redoing the front entrance. He had all these positive reviews and after we put the down payment down, he was out the next day to demolish the front entrance. About a week later, he came back to work a little more. He kept doing a little more and then would disappear. He told us twice he was in the hospital. We could not go out the front door for two months.His work was good but not stellar. We refused to pay him the remainder of the money until he removed the debris from our yard that was from the demolition. We had to hire someone else to finish the railing."

You should paint your home exterior every five to 10 years, on average. Climate and surroundings can affect how well paint holds up. Wood siding will likely need a fresh coat of paint every three to seven years. Paint on brick tends to last about eight to 17 years, on average.
Calculate the square footage of the area you want to paint. Divide the square footage by 350 (the average square footage a gallon of paint covers). Multiply the number of gallons you need by two, as you’ll likely be applying two coats of paint. For a more accurate estimate, subtract the square footage of the windows and doors from the initial square footage total. The cost to paint the exterior of a house ranges from $1,900 to $4,500 or about $1.50 to $4 per square foot, depending on the size, height, and complexity of the home layout. Other cost factors include your location, the type of siding (e.g., wood, aluminum, brick, stucco, etc.), and the kind of paint (e.g. oil-based, latex, acrylic, etc.). Painting the trim a different color or painting intricately designed trim can also increase the cost.
You should apply at least two coats of paint when painting the exterior of your house. Two coats of paint provides better durability and more even coverage than just one coat.
