"Luis and his highly skilled crew did an amazing, and extremely professional job. The walkway looks great, and now the steps are much safer. In addition the new concrete slab helps with drainage and is a major improvement. We were more than satisfied with the results of their work. When it comes to masonry repairs, L & Z Masonry is the BEST. We have used their services in the past and we will continue to do so. Luis is very clear about the details of the work that he will be doing for you. He does a great job explaining his work plan to you. Also, He is very easy to work with, and he is extremely Fair, Flexible, and Trustworthy. He knows all of the Ins and Outs of Masonry, and works to achieve a high standard of excellence. The workers in his company always arrived on time and worked in a consistent, focused manner until the job was done. Their work ethic is PHENOMENAL, They were friendly, polite, and respectful of our family and our house. They were also very knowledgeable. In addition, Luis even had his workers reset a pipe for one of my gutters that was near a section of the walkway. There was no extra charge for this. This man is the greatest when it comes to looking out for his customers. I highly recommend L & Z Masonry. The quality of their work is excellent, and their prices are fair and competitive. I will most definitely use their services in the future for any of my masonry concerns."

Small jobs welcome

"Luis & Sons did a fantastic job on my outdoor stairs, fence, and driveway. They provided quality work, they were easy to get ahold of and communicate with, they were very fast and efficient with the 3 projects, and they were respectful to my property with daily cleaning of the work area. I would recommend Luis & Sons to anyone looking for a contractor team to offer quality work at a reasonable price. Thank you Luis & Sons for building such beautiful stairs and fence, and repairing our driveway!"

Small jobs welcome

"Alex and his crew were fantastic. They were on time, worked very hard and each day they left the site completely cleaned up, including the driveway where they mixed the concrete. They were complete professionals! I had a few small additional things I wanted him to do and he did them without any new charges. Prior to having Alex install the drains and do the other repairs we would always have water coming into our basement, sometimes substantial amounts of water. It has now been about a month since he did the job and we have had two big rain storms and our basement is completely dry thanks to Alex's great work. Alex is very easy to work with and has an old school work ethic, and there were no surprises or over charges. He's a straight shooter. I will be having Alex do more work for us next spring. John"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.

Chip seal layers gravel and a liquid bitumen one at a time on-site, while asphalt directly pours a pre-combined mixture. Asphalt must be sealed, but it will last up to four times as long as chip seal driveways. Aesthetically, chip seal has a natural, rustic look compared to the traditional asphalt slab.

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.
