"We had 2-3 years of constant road work as a result of storm Sandy (gas line and water line replacement) and there was a crack that expanded over time in the living area on the second floor. We needed to know if it was structural or cosmetic. Anthony arrived on time and began to examine the crack as well as take measurements to determine any significant changes. He was familiar with the land issues in this area, which I appreciated. He explained as he went along and also went to every room in the home and outside for any other evidence of cracks. He was extremely thorough in his inspection and advised how to correct the issue. In addition he also gave tips regarding procedures for any renovations on the property which was extremely helpful. There was a fee for the inspection and an additional fee for a written report. I would definitely hire again if I have any issues."

"I recently had the pleasure of working with George for the renovation of my apartment in Queens, NY, and I cannot sing his praises enough. From start to finish, George demonstrated an unparalleled level of professionalism, expertise, and dedication to ensuring my vision was not only realized but exceeded. One of the most impressive aspects of working with George was his unwavering commitment to timeliness. Every deadline was met with precision, and the project progressed seamlessly thanks to his meticulous planning and execution. Moreover, George showcased an incredible knack for resourcefulness, always finding innovative solutions to any challenges that arose throughout the renovation process. His ability to think outside the box not only saved time and money but also ensured that the final result was nothing short of spectacular. What truly set George apart, however, was his exceptional communication skills. He took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process in a way that was easy for me to understand, alleviating any concerns or confusion I may have had along the way. His transparency and willingness to educate his clients are truly commendable. As for the design itself, I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome. George managed to perfectly capture my vision while incorporating his own unique flair and expertise, resulting in a space that not only looks stunning but also functions flawlessly for my lifestyle. In conclusion, I cannot recommend George highly enough. If you are looking for an architect who is not only talented and knowledgeable but also a pleasure to work with, look no further than George. My experience with him was nothing short of exceptional, and I am beyond grateful for the beautiful transformation he brought to my home."

Architects questions, answered by experts

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

Cathedral ceilings make a statement in your home, but at the cost of your attic space. Normal attics are wide open, which allows warm air to move around and exit your home. Because of this, cathedral ceilings make your home less energy efficient and put your ceiling at risk of venting issues if you’re not careful. They also reduce your attic storage space, potentially cause an echo, and even make it harder to change a light bulb.

Most Greek Revival architecture homes are one and a half to two stories, depending on the footprint, which sets them apart from some Federal architecture homes that are three stories. The gabled roof on the second floor can sometimes cut into the living space, especially on smaller homes of this style, which leaves a much smaller living area upstairs.

A home elevator is a fantastic way to improve your home’s accessibility. Elevators allow anyone, even those who use wheelchairs or walkers, to safely move between floors within your home.

Dumbwaiters may allow you to move items up and down floors, and stair lifts can move people up and down, but elevators are the best option if you need space for people, their belongings, and/or mobility aids such as wheelchairs.

That said, home elevators cost more than other options, such as stair lifts. Consider your needs and your budget when deciding the best way to make your home more accessible to a person with a disability or a person who is aging in place.

Villa exterior features often include large windows, arched doorways, patios, terraces, greenery, and gardens. Common exterior colors for villas are whites and off-whites, soft browns, and clay tones.
