"Having been told that it was extremely difficult to remove counter from existing cabinets and back splash (which we intended to keep) without causing damage. Naza and crew removed old countertops and installed new in one day without any issues. They were amazing. We couldnâ t be happier with the finished product or the customer service provided along the way."

"Sal did an excellent job on our floors! He responded promptly to my request for a bid, and gave us the lowest quote to refinish the floors in our new house, which has all hard wood floors. We were not living in the house (or in the town) at the time that Sal did the work on the floors; nonetheless all the work was completed on schedule and Sal was very accessible via phone and email. Also, the floors are beautiful! I highly recommend this contractor, and would definitely hire him again."

Small jobs welcome

"Floor had bad stains, which Absolute made disappear. Marble floors and vanity tops are like new. I couldn't ask for better results. I really felt I was in good hands and the job results proved it. No hassle. Not just satisfied, but delighted."

Customers say: Terrific value

"He's been my tile man for quite a few years. I highly recommend him. He's done my kitchen, three of my bathrooms, & my basement. Some jobs are now 15 years old and all still looks good. He is very good with great design ideas I wouldn't have even thought of myself. I recommend him to all my friends. He shows up when he says he will. He's easy & a pleasure to deal with. Never in a bad mood. I would never even consider anyone else. He is very good!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

Whether you want to match your tile trim with grout comes down to your personal preferences. If you match the two, it can help your tiles to stand out while providing a clean, cohesive look. On the other hand, you might opt to match your tile trim with your tiles. The best option will depend largely on your tile design, as well as how it fits overall with the rest of your room.
