"I hired Palmieri back in May, after calling to receive my free estimate, i got my contract within the week and was able to have service by the following week. They end their season in November and I must say I am very pleased with the work the men provided on a weekly basis. I will definitely be continuing my services with them for the following season as well as snow removal for the winter season."

Customers say: True professional

"Awesome job. Cesar, the owner of Regina evaluated the situation and rather than trying to get me to pay for a new pipe which would have required ripping up a part of the driveway, he solved the problem with ingenuity. In the end, his cost was well below a new pipe which was not needed. I have now had him look at several other projects I have wanted to do over the years. He put thought into those as well and I’m sure he will do a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. He also put down mulch in the same visit, also at a very reasonable price. Again, this is company I would highly recommend. This comes from a homeowner of 25 years at the same location who has seen and spoken with dozens of contractors."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Generally, you want the soil for your edible plants to have good drainage, organic matter for nutrients, a loose texture (like loam soil), and a balanced pH level. However, the type of plants you're growing will dictate the exact characteristics your soil needs to thrive. For example, brussels sprout prefers more acidic soil, while broccoli prefers more alkaline soil.

Gravel’s biggest pro is its cost-effectiveness. For example, a gravel road or driveway is much more affordable than its asphalt counterpart. Gravel is also much less expensive than the cost of pouring a concrete slab if you’re building a patio or similar structure.

However, regarding comfort and convenience, gravel is far less foot-friendly than smoother substances like concrete or asphalt. It’s also more of a challenge to drive on and may kick up dust, resulting in the inevitable need for extra car washes. Lastly, there’s a chance it might move with rain or snow.

Mulch is best used in garden beds and yards, not in your driveway as pothole filler. It is meant to stimulate plant growth. Upon repeated pressure, it turns into compost, which also serves as fertilizer for weeds to take over. The roots will then break into your driveway, leading to more material loss and structural collapses.

You can choose from various kinds of organic mulch and inorganic mulch. Organic mulch may be in the form of wood chips, pine needles, and compost and eventually decompose. Inorganic mulch, such as gravel, rocks, and landscape fabric, is more durable but doesn’t help the soil.

Mulch can increase the aesthetic and curb appeal of your property, and it provides a ton of benefits for your trees, shrubs, and even your foundation. Here are some of the benefits of installing mulch:

  • Protects your trees from weed whacker strikes

  • Helps regulate moisture in the soil for better plant and tree health

  • Can improve your home’s curb appeal and, therefore, your property value

  • Reduces how much runoff soaks into the soil around your foundation, potentially reducing the risk of foundation damage and leaking
