"Canâ t say enough about Johnâ s home inspection. As first time home buyers we were unsure what to expect with a home inspection, and we were blown away by Johnâ s knowledge and professionalism. He inspected the home thoroughly, explained what he was doing in terms that were easy to understand, and patiently answered our questions. His inspection report was extensive and easy to understand. I would hands down recommend John to anyone looking to get a home inspected."

"I never thought I'd say this about a home inspection but I had a wonderful time during the inspection last week. Mr Csak was very professional throughout the inspection while being so personable, answering all of our questions (and there were many!). His responses to our questions were very detailed and technical, if that's your thing. And if it's not your thing, Mr Csak would ask you "do you want the long or short answer?" He was very detail oriented and walked us through what were the high priority fixes in the property vs ones that could wait. He turned around the report within 48 hours and the report was very well written, had tons of pictures, easy to understand, and had clear actionable items. I also greatly appreciate him telling us that we're free to call him up with any questions pertaining to the property after the fact. One thing I would point out to future customers is that even though credit cards are technically accepted, Mr Csak really prefers Zelle/Venmo (which is technically cash). So be mindful of this especially if you need to plan out your cashflow when purchasing your home. All in all, I would 100% recommend Mr Csak for your home inspection needs. I definitely will be hiring him again for future inspection/consulting needs."

"Bill was friendly, on time (in fact early), and very thorough with his inspection. He shared both the necessary findings and suggestions on how I could go about resolving them, providing options and his expertise. He beat his competitors in terms of price and included things that are typically an additional charge. I very much appreciated how he carried himself and his professionalism. The inspection was in the late afternoon/evening and the next morning he provided the inspection. Would recommend!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

By nature, two-prong outlets aren't grounded—but the box they run to might be, which makes them safer. The safest way to test if an outlet is grounded is to purchase a circuit tester, which cost about $20 at home improvement stores.

If you discover your outlet (or outlets) aren't grounded, know that this greatly increases your risk of personal injury and electrical fires. You may want to consider installing new three-prong ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. On average, the cost to install GFCI outlets is about $210 per outlet.

If you hire a dedicated asbestos inspector near you in addition to your local home inspector, it will cost between $200 and $800. If, however, your general home inspector happens to be certified as an asbestos inspector, they can charge you a smaller fee and tack on the cost to the home inspection. In general, home inspectors do not do physical testing, but will provide a visual assessment so you know what you are working with.

You can call a professional septic company to inspect your tank and leach field if you suspect too much weight has been on it. An inspection is a good idea if you recently purchased the home and the septic system isn’t working like you expected. The professionals can determine whether a previous owner damaged it by placing too much weight on it.

Mobile homes need releveling every so often to maintain their structural integrity. Most mobile home manufacturers recommend releveling every three to five years. To keep the quality of your mobile home up for years and to avoid deterioration over time, proper maintenance is key.

Typically, a local home energy auditor is responsible for performing energy audits. A home energy auditor will conduct one of three energy audits designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to determine the energy efficiency of your home. The auditor often provides analysis that can help guide changes and improvements to your home for better energy efficiency, giving recommendations as necessary.
