This is the 2nd major project I contracted Art DeRosa & Co for.  The 1st being 4 years ago a major living room/family room renovation which was hugely successful.  That 1st experience led me to award Art (after several other competitive quotes) this 2nd and far larger & more complex project.

Overall it went well but this was a complicated project encompassing all the typical trades and expertise of building a new luxury house but far more complicated because it was a renovation performed while we were living in the home. Dust partition walls with wood framing had to be erected in several locations in the house which included temporary doors for entering and egress in certain areas of the remaining living areas of the house in order to protect the remaining house from dust and demolition , as well as, provide privacy for us during construction. 

Experience, Experience, Experience and Professionalism, Professionalism, Professionalism are the hallmarks of Art DeRosa and company.  He is a seasoned performer and pretty much seen it all.  Art has such a vast amount of home construction experience in both hi-end and medium end homes that he can draw upon a wealth of knowledge in all construction disciplines to implement a fine finished result.  As a former tool and die maker his penchant for hi-precision finish work yields highest quality appearances to things like moldings; trim; windows; doors; floors; etc. etc. 

This complex renovation project lasted 7 months which was within the initial time estimate given at the beginning and Art DeRosa and team were here every single day, day in and day out,  bright and early during that time frame. He did not start any other projects and stayed on the job day-in and day-out even when other sub-contractors such as plumbers and electricians were on the job site excluding his people from doing any other work. Art DeRosa and team were here every single day until final signoff.

"First off I live in Queens not Long Island..I got Metro Home Improvements number from someone who used them.. I called Romeo to set up an appointment for an estimate. Not only did he return my call within 15 minutes...he was at my house in Queens within 2 hours...now anyone who would do that gets high a mark from me. "Boulevard Planning did a total remodel of our home. We had a cape and removed the entire second floor and built an full third floor attic. Thanks to John, we some how were even able to live in the house (not ideal) through the entire construction. Could not have asked things to go as smoothly as they did. John is a stand up guy and really went above and beyond. To be expected a few bumps along the way that were immediately taken care of. Cannot tell you the number of complements we get, more importantly it is awesome to be living in the new house. Unbelievably, John stuck 100% to the original budget. We did exceed budget with extras, mostly on the first floor. All of the extras were our own doing. This was a huge stress for me because of a huge budget and my wife was expecting our first child. I researched construction companies for months and attended two home improvement shows at my local college before getting bids from 3 or 4 companies. The ones I decide were all members with NARI. My contact person with Kenstruction was Gary Conrad. First impressions was that he was knowledgeable and professional. I used photos from remodeling magazines and my own sketches to show Gary what we wanted. About Two weeks later I had all the bids laid out of the table. We decided on Kentruction because of reference phone calls, photos of their work, NARI certifications and price. Their price wasn't the lowest, But it wasn't the highest. The price was reasonable for the job. 

Upon Signing with Kentruction, Gary went to work on permits and detailed plans. The framing was done my Kenstruction staff. The plumbing, electrical, drywall, insulation, tile, wood floors and foundation work was done by subcontractors. I only had quality issues with the drywall subcontractor and the foundation. I understand Kenstruction no longer uses those drywall subs. The foundation sub showed up at my front door with a bill for the concrete as the last truck was pouring. That bill should have went to Gary. Once I let Gary know he immediately took care of it. The foundation sub also tried to burry an old concrete rear patio stoop next to the new foundation, instead of removing it all together. The local building inspector caught it. Gary was informed and his crew broke up and removed the concrete patio before back filling.

Once the crew put the shell up, the rest went without a problem. Gary built a custom wood tub surround so it can be removed for future repair or service. Payment was done is stages as the project progressed. The company owner, Kent showed up at the site to see the work. When the remodel was done they even had someone clean the entire house.

In 2011, I notice one small vertical crack develop on each new concrete wall. I contacted Gary and he came out to look at it. He advised it's normal stress crack and not an issue. If it got any larger he would repair it. I researched it and stress cracks are normal and not a problem. The cracks don't appear to have grown.

Now its 2014, and all the work is holding up well. All I had to is replace the new bath exhaust fan. Any future project, Kenstruction will be on my bid list.

July, 2014 I just had Kentstruction here for their 4HR remodel deal. They came over to put up a storage platform in the attic for storage. Gary came over and installed it himself. Looks good. Thanks.

"We had hired Waheed back in 2008 to replace our kitchen Formica countertop with a granite countertop.  He was very professional and courteous.  He supervised the job from beginning to end.  The new countertop exceeded our expectations.  He gave us a beautiful radius on the island corners which we did not expect.   We needed 2 slabs to accommodate 40 linear feet of countertops plus a 5 1/2 foot long by 40" wide island.   We receive a lot of compliments from our family and friends.
This January, we needed to replace our accessory apartment kitchen Formica countertop.  We didn't hesitate to call Waheed again.  He came and gave us an estimate.  He sent us to pick the slab from his warehouse.  We wanted a white Carrera quartz countertop and we had so many to choose from.   The new countertop was installed 1 week after the template was taken.  We would recommend Waheed to anyone needing a new countertop.  He is very pleasant to work with."
