"Victor is very professional and a warm hearted gentleman. We are new owners of a home that used the fireplace extensively. There was a strong and lingering odor of ash. Victor at Chimney Sweeps pencilled us in quickly and came on time. He and his worker performed a professional job, wasting no time and completing everything efficiently. Care was taken so as not to leave any dirt on the floors. He diagnosed the situation and shared how long ago since the old owners cleaned the chimney. I heartily recommend Chimney Needs USA. S.L. "Joe had actually done some previous work with my husband for our fireplace and remembered the work. The service was, professional, prompt, done very well and he made recommendations that would save me additional cost in the future. I was very pleased with the work and will use them again in the future."

"I think they need to plan better for their workmen to get to site. It might be a one off but we had a van come from Bethpage out to Yonkers, when there is more than one office in the NY area...Friendly and professional and thorough. We ended up paying more than we thought but the chimney hadn't been looked at in quite a while by the previous owners, and there was obvious physical deterioration. They sorted everything including exterior brickwork and left the place tidy. I was pleased with the result."

Fireplaces FAQs, answered by experts

You can find replacement stove parts for popular brands at local hardware stores or major retailers. However, you might find the best deal by directly buying online from the manufacturer. While there are some universal parts, the manufacturer can also help you find parts that are specific to your stove’s make and model.

Creosote control, maintaining cap mesh integrity, and swift repairs keep systems robust.

Removing and demolishing a fireplace is extremely labor intensive work that also takes a long time. You need to use brute strength to break apart the brick and masonry, and carry the debris to a dumpster. Depending on the size of the structure, you may need multiple days to fully remove it. After removal, you need to determine how you will repair the wall that held the fireplace, which can also be quite time consuming and challenging.

Like any other household appliance, electric fireplaces can wear out after about 10 to 20 years. With more frequent use, the parts will wear out quicker, and you may get just 7 to 10 years out of a well-loved electric fireplace. Fortunately, electric fireplaces come with a lower upfront installation cost compared to alternatives like gas, so you can install a replacement for less.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.
