"Mario arrived at the scheduled time. He evaluated the problem and informed me about what was needed. Mario quoted a price which I felt was reasonable. He picked up the new toilet and installed it immediately. Mario cleaned his work area. Mario is a friendly and professional. It was a pleasure to have him complete the work in my house."

"Barbara graciously took a look at the leak when she came by to give us an estimate for a whole house water filter install. We called her back a week later to fix the leak. Barbara showed up on time and was up front about how she planned to fix the problem, any additional costs should the planned approach didn't work, and other alternatives. She was able to fix the leak in 30 mins and we no longer have to worry about water behind the walls."

"I want people to know that Chris helped me out right after tropical storm Ida in what could have been a catastrophic flood to my basement. And on his birthday! I am forever grateful for his help. He rerouted my sump pump lickety split, and both him and his son were super nice and professional. Thank you Chris, and if you donâ t use him youâ re a fool!"

"We are very pleased with the whole experience. After 3 days of struggling to find a new boiler and a company to install it, we decided to search through Angieâ s List. Next day, on a Friday, we got an estimation and 4 hours later we had a performant new boiler all installed and working. I definitely recommend this company. Thank you Angie!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

If you’re wondering if your home even needs a sump pump, consider whether you’ve struggled with flooding issues in the past. If your house is in a flood-prone area, your yard has poor drainage, or you’ve dealt with any other water problems, then it’s likely well worth it to replace your old sump pump with a new one.

Some sump pumps are powered by water rather than electricity. Water-powered sump pumps generally use one gallon of city water to pump out two gallons of water from its basin. Therefore, if you're looking at a potential 10,000-gallon flood, your sump pump will need to use 5,000 gallons of city water to prevent it.
