In some cases, you will not be responsible for any apron that goes beyond the sidewalk, but it depends on local laws.

Some building codes or types of interlocking pavers could require even less of a height difference, so check with your local regulations and the manufacturer to clarify.

They also make it easier for weeds to grow where the separate pavers meet up. They may also be more likely to settle over time.
