"Extremely skilled, professional and detail-oriented - great follow-up. Calls when he says he will call. Cleans work area and aims to please. You get what you pay for, he won't be the lowest quote but great quality work and customer service focused. Used for drywall work. He drove around to four lumberjacks to find ceiling to match what's here in my older home. Wish we'd found him 5 yrs ago."

"Michael did an amazing job! I had a TV mounted on the wall with all the cables running through the inside, so after taking it down, the wall needed quite a bit of repair. Michael came in, looked everything over, repaired the drywall, filled all the holes, and painted the entire wall. When he was done, you couldn’t even tell a TV had ever been mounted there. He also painted a small workroom for me at no extra charge, which was really nice of him. Everything came out great, and I’m very happy with his work. I’ll definitely be calling Michael again to paint the other two rooms in my apartment. Highly recommend him!"

"Sergio and his Dad were super polite. They encountered an issue in drywall install that took extra time and materials but came out looking the way I wanted. They clean up afterwards. I also liked the fact the contract and receipts came by email and text."

Small jobs welcome

"Arek and his team are top notch. They are professional, responsive and the quality of work they do is unmatched. I recently had them patch drywall holes and repaint. They did a great job with the patches and matching the paint. It was like the holes were never there. I would recommend them for any of your painting needs."

"This project went very well, and we are thrilled with the results. We used VAP Contracting in the past for a smaller project, and didn't hesitate to use them again for this larger project. Victor is very professional: he is easy to reach and he always either picks up the phone or responds to messages or emails within a day. He works with a great crew of craftsmen who are punctual, honest, reliable, and who take pride in their work. This project required lots of digging, stone cutting, cement mixing, etc., but every day the work area was left as clean as possible. Victor also used a subcontractor for the stonework. This firm was also very reliable and professional - their skilled craftsmen were on-site every day during the 6-week duration of the project, carefully laying each stone in place to create beautiful staircases and patios. Victor coordinated all of the work, and both he and the subcontractor stopped by the house often to supervise the work, provide updates, and to answer any questions we had.
It's always a pleasure working with Victor and VAP contracting and look forward to working with him on future projects.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.

Applying spackle is a simple DIY project that most people can complete in just a few hours. Even homeowners who have little DIY experience can complete this project in an afternoon. However, if you're uncomfortable with the project or don't have the time, you can always hire a pro to help.

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.
