"We used Simply Pur for a whole house system as well as a kitchen RO system for drinking water. Vinny and his team were absolutely great. They were professional, efficient, clean, and trustworthy. Most importantly, our water feels and tastes delicious! Thanks again!"

"I am now on their maintenance program. I pay a reasonable yearly fee and they come to me like clockwork. I am called a day or two before. They give me a 3 hour time frame and they show up right on time. It takes maybe 5 minutes for them to add the salt fix the timer test the water. The last person that came was Joey who is friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. So are all their other employee. They are great to work with."

"Quality Water Group installed a whole house water filtration system as well as an under the counter reverse osmosis system with an instant hot. Our representative, Bob, was very knowledgeable and advised us on the different options that he recommended. It is important to note that he was NOT pushy at all and did not fearmonger (like the two other companies that I had met with). Bob truly went above and beyond to make sure the whole process went as seamless as possible. Our install was done by Mike and Nigel, who did an excellent job. They explained each step to keep me informed during the install. Our water is now free of chemicals, we can taste (and smell!) the difference. Quality Water Group is reliable, professional, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Bob and his team!"

"Crew showed up punctually, poured the concrete slab and removed old units on day one. On day two they installed and started the new units on day two. The air conditioning has never been better.
We cannot speak highly enough about this company. We contacted Anthony and explained what we wanted to accomplish, when he showed up at the house for a survey we explained fully how we saw the scope of work. Tony made several recommendations for possible upgrades but was more than willing to provide a quote for the exact scope that we had requested. The price was more than fair and I have never been happier to do business with a contractor.

"Just had this done in Feb 2019. Turns out vendor who I used then didn't clean any of the solid waste from cesspool . He only drained fluids. Had same overflow problem again this weekend and was pretty mad. Call Mid Suffolk and was greeted very professionally and kindly on phone by Christine on Saturday night Sept 14th 2019. Was told her husband Bob would show up Sunday morning. He did at 11am and provided much need excellent service and advice. Completely serviced both pools for a reasonable price. Was neat and would call again without any second thought."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

It’s not a good idea to oversize your water softener. Doing so will mean the tank doesn’t get full, which can lead to channeling. This leads to a large portion of the resin beads not being utilized and the beads at the bottom of the tank being overused. Over time, this will reduce the efficiency of your system, not to mention that the upfront cost of an oversized softener is unnecessarily high. If you have a timed regeneration cycle rather than a demand-based one, you’ll also spend far more on replacing salt than you need to.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.
