"We hired Eric/ Worldwide Painters on the basis that he had such good reviews here on Angi and tbh, I don't understand how he received these reviews bc our experience was the complete opposite. He was hired to paint (prime/2 coats of paint) a studio apt, make a soffit for heating pipe, repair 2nd soffit, repair/patch 3 openings from previous plumbing repair. We asked him for a contract before starting the project, he emailed a general inv w a total price after he started. My husband then asked for an itemized inv 2 days in, he then says he doesn't know what we want. On the 3rd day he informs us that he will have the project completed the following day when they still hadn't finished with drywall repair, spackling or even started priming and painting. We told him we didn't want him to rush, but he insisted he wasn't and would have everything done with no problem. Sure enough, the following day he tells us he's done and my husband goes down to check ahead of me. Apparently, he took offense that my husband had to ask him once again for an itemized inv and asked rather loudly - "How Many times do you want me to send it?!" My husband told him we didn't have one and that we had asked before the start. What he sent on different days was a generalized inv w a total price and then what looked to be a barely recognizable contract. The problem was that he didn't know what an itemized inv was and my husband had to explain. When I walked in he looked to be visibly agitated and my husband had to ask him to calm down twice. Upon walking in, I could visibly see that most walls only had 1 coat, the areas that were spackled were less than smooth, by any means. There were blisters in the paint, pooled paint at the bottom of moldings, no caukling was done around moldings or corners, there were specks of dried paint dotting almost all the walls, paint dripping on several walls, paint on the glass of windows and they did not paint around ANY of the recessed lights, holes were left in wall that were to be spackled, one of the openings for drywall repair was NOT done, NONE of the doors were painted. This is what he claimed was complete. We expected to have one soffit left incomplete bc we were waiting for molding to be shipped which he said he had ordered and would come back the following week to complete that, but we weren't prepared for what we received in the end. It was the worst paint, spackling job we had ever had in all our yrs of being homeowners. After pointing several of these issues out, he assured us that when he was to come back to complete the soffit, he would rectify any problems then and complete the job. He agreed to take a lesser amount for the balance owed until all was complete and left on polite terms, even discussing a hallway painting project once studio was complete. Just a few hrs later, he sends a text saying that he would not come back and would not be doing hallway and would take the loss for the balance. Now we have to find someone else to fix all the issues left by him and we already know it's going to cost more than what he claims is a loss. I don't think we'll be using Angi again after this experience and it goes without saying that we will not be using this company ever again. To say that we are disappointed and/or upset is an understatement. Its our belief that he had no intention of completing the job bc he obviously didn't order the molding which was to be delivered to our home and he didn't buy any paint for the doors. Also, we had to clean 2 nights in a row after they left for the day. I'm attaching some pics, but it's difficult to catch due to lighting. If you've read this far and considering hiring this company, be forewarned!"

"I hired Walter of Power Painters to paint my entire 1 bedroom apartment he said it would take 2 days. He came 4/23 & 4/24. First day as they were painting. They started with the front entrance hallway and livingroom. I came out of the bedroom to look and I said to him the walls look shiny why. He said it was eggshell. I said my walls were painted with Benjamin Moore Decorators white as you see before flat matte. I wanted it like that. And he said you told me eggshell it has a glossy finish. I remember in your texts that's what you want. And I said no. I would never choose glossy. He said most ppl choose that. If you have any marks or imperfections you will notice it. So why would I choose that my walls have marks its old built in 1984. I said let me look at all my texts I sent you. Walter then said if you would have said it earlier to me. I could do something. From there I was so unhappy already. Just started 1st coat eggshellI was unhappy. After he went home. I checked all my texts and nowhere did I say eggshell finish. I wanted Benjamin Moore Decorators whitein matte finish like what I had on the walls. Then the following day I told Walter I checked my texts I did not say I wanted the eggshell finish. Right then I should have said I want decorators white in matte finish. Please do it over. I didn't pay him yet. So I just ignored it even though I was not happy. Then I said to Walter you don't sand down the walls much or use a machine why. The other time I painted they did. This was the second and last day. I showed him some of the marks on the wall and he said I cannot get rid of so of the marks. That would be a bigger job. So when they finished he said to me. I will come back and sand with a machine the walls in the hallway..So he said can he can come back and use a machine to sand down the hallway that's about 7-8 ft long and maybe the livingroom. At that time he knew I was upset. So I paid him $1000, and gave him, $ 600 deposit so I owe him$800. Walter came with his employee May 2nd to finish. I paid him the $800 balance. As they left. I noticed he had this tool stuck or he put it on the side of the front door so it would not close. I TOOK IT OUT THEN TRIED TO SHUT MY FRONT DOOR and I could not close it. I pulled the door hard and the door scraped the wall and ripped the top edge of the door. I texted Walter the pictures of what happened to my wall and front door. He said let the door slam I will come and fix it. This was May 2nd. I did not hear back from him so I called May 13 and he will come by next week. He never did. Then June 6 he texted me and said he is at a job the whole day and will try to come and see me next week. He never called or texted and today is June 25 and I called Angi Customer Resolutions. Vvgʻ"

FAQs for interior painting projects in Kew Gardens, NY
When you’re considering hiring a painter, a quote should include the following items:
Overall price
Price for each area (e.g., living room, master bedroom) or item (e.g., trim, doors)
Cost of labor
Cost of materials
Description of prep
Description of repairs to be made
Description and details of paint application (number of coats, brand and type of paint, etc.)
You may need to provide your own paint, depending on the agreement you make with the painter. Some painters prefer that you buy the paint and they supply the labor. However, some professional painters get a better price on paint and can pass that savings along to you even after accounting for labor costs.
The average cost to paint a ceiling ranges from $3 to $8.50 per square foot, which is about $1 to $2.50 more per square foot than the cost to paint the walls. Rooms with high ceilings require working from a ladder or scaffolding and often include trim or detail work, which adds to the final price.
Professional painters charge $20 to $50 per hour, on average. Hourly rate cost factors include the complexity of the paint job, the type of paint, the height of the walls and ceiling, and the type of prep and repairs needed. For example, removing wallpaper costs an additional $3 per square foot because it can be very time consuming and labor intensive. Your location will also impact the hour rate.
To estimate the cost to paint interior walls, multiply the square footage by the average price range to paint interior walls, which is $2 to $6 per square foot. For example, a 12-by-12-foot room with 8-foot tall walls is 384 square feet, meaning that the cost to paint the room will range from $768 to $2,304. Painting the ceiling and any trim will add to the overall cost, as will any repairs.
