The magnetron, which is the component that generates the microwave energy used to heat your food, is the most likely piece to cause your appliance to fail. Some of the most common microwave repair problems include magnetron failure and a plate that won’t spin. When a magnetron fails, the microwave won’t efficiently heat your food—a frustrating albeit common experience. Meanwhile, a plate that doesn’t spin won’t thoroughly heat food, even if the magnetron works.

Plug-in appliances, such as fans, hair dryers, irons, and vacuums, can cause a circuit overload and trip your circuit breaker. Older electrical systems may not support newer appliances, or the appliances may have internal damage.
