"Amazing job. We are so happwith our new porch. It's huge!! This is a family owned company which we loved. They were mindful of our family which is huge. Our new addition required a whole new build roofing walls flooring . And we had them do plumbing to add our hottub on our back porch. Very very thankful for N&Z. We will be hiring them back!!! "As a military family, we have to rely on reviews to find good companies. I am happy to say that the positive reviews of Northern Light Structures are on par. In an area that has many unprofessional contractors, it was nice to find one that I can put my trust in. For those of you who are military spouses, this company will be a useful tool while the husband is away. I will use Northern Light Structures in the future for those jobs that just can't wait for a deployment to end. I am very happy with my experience with this company."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Of all the fencing options, the cheapest type is a repurposed pallet fence because it’s made of used materials that are easy to find for free. But if you’re not interested in the DIY game, customize a covered chain link fence or a plain wood fence to provide the best privacy possible.

Issues include rust, loose posts, and damaged mesh. Regular maintenance prevents significant problems.

DIY is feasible with the proper tools and manual labor, though experienced installers ensure durability and precise alignment.

If you’re part of a homeowners association (HOA), you’ll need to speak with them regarding your fence repairs prior to starting work. Sometimes, you’ll need HOA approval to start repairs and ensure that the completed project meets their standards. In other cases, direct approval might not be required to start the project. Speaking with your HOA first will help avoid any unnecessary fines and headaches.

If the fence is on one neighbor’s property, that person is responsible for repairs, regardless of who benefits from the fence more. The other neighbor must keep trees and other obstacles from crossing the property line and affecting the fence. If the fence is directly on the property line, though, who owns a shared fence? Many states have laws that address this issue. Typically, the two property owners would share responsibilities and costs for fence maintenance and repair. You may need a property line survey to precisely determine ownership and responsibility.
