"Eldi came to give me an estimate to repair and replace my walkway from the blacktop driveway to the front porch using colored paving stones. The front concrete steps had sunken so low that it was dangerous to use them. We negotiated the color desired and the price for the walk and the steps. Wow, he and his 2-man crew came the next Saturday, worked all day to perfect the design, and they were done by early Sunday afternoon. Elo was friendly, professional, and his team did excellent work. I would recommend him highly. Everyone who has seen the new sidewalk is astounded at its beauty. The work wasnâ t cheap, but it looks like it cost a lot more. D. Hahn, Castleton"

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property.
