Customers say: True professional

"DIMITRI did carpentry, painting, and till instillation with his tile expert. The work was meticulous with "old world" type expertise and finesse. The work was beautiful and totally amazing. Friends and neighbors that have seen the work say my kitchen is absolutely beautiful and the tile work is truly amazing. My wife and I would wholeheartedly recommend Dimitri to anyone. We will certainly use him again for any future projects for our home."

"I hired Tim to fix a banister and put up various shelving and picture frames in my home. He was prompt, easy to work with and did a fantastic job. His prices were very fair and reasonable for the excellent work that he did and I will be sure to hire him in the future for any upcoming projects."

"Anthony has done remodeling for us in the past and we were always very pleased with his work, so this time we asked him to completely remodel an older home that we purchased as our "forever home." Anthony took the house down to the studs moving stair cases, and adding rooms. The house needed all new HVAC, windows and doors, pluming and electric. Anthony handled it all. He stamps his name on every project and brings a hard-to-find level of excellence and craftsmanship to each project. He takes the time to truly understand what you want from the project and the functions and design you are looking for - even our two dogs rave about the dog shower and mudroom he built for them. We enjoyed working with Anthony and love our new home! We would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone who delivers what they commit to."

"Ivan and his crew were friendly, professional, and always on time. The work was completed to a high quality. I am so glad to have found this multi-talented handyman. The first job was to install new curtain rods and rehang curtains—perfect! Next, power washing entire house, windows, gates, painting exterior doors all the jobs on my summer wish list completed to perfection at a reasonable cost with a sunny bright smile and positive energy that lifts the spirit. Thank you Ivan—looking forward to working again with you again when the need arises!"

Small jobs welcome

"Called and gave a scope of the work and was given a quote which I accepted. The guys showed up at exactly 8am as promised. Placed tarps in the work area and out to the front door. Proceeded to do the work removing old stairs and framing out the ceiling. Installed new stairs in place. Kept me appraised as to their progress. Completed the job on time. Cleaned up the work area. Happy with the way the job went. Would higher again."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:

  • Add insulation: $1 per square foot

  • Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot

  • Add window: $450–$2,000 per window

  • Add outlets: $75–$500

  • Add garage door: $250–$11,200

  • Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot

  • Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

To calculate the number of linear feet of baseboard you’ll need, measure the length of each wall of the room you’re installing them in as close to the floor as possible, rounding up to the next full linear foot. If it’s your first DIY molding job, having a few extra feet on hand for miscuts is a good idea.
