"We really cannot give enough positive feedback about James Walsh and his very competent and pleasant crew! Our concrete front steps were in dire need of a facelift. We decided to add bluestone treads and brick risers. Our first dilemma was that the facade of our home was “used brick” and we weren’t sure how to match it as best as possible. James told us what to look for and sent us to his contact at a local brickyard to be sure we’d be satisfied with our choice. After selecting bricks, he sent us to another place to choose bluestone and pavers. He carefully explained all the choices we had for filling the “field” on the landing, i.e. whether to use thermal bluestone or pavers and the pluses and minuses of each. From there he helped us to change the design of our front walk (previously cement) and design a walkway in the back of our home from our deck to the driveway. James was fairly priced and accessible for questions before the job and as it proceeded. His crew showed up on time each day and worked carefully, neatly, and diligently. The job was completed on time and looked nicer than we could have anticipated. Our neighbors all came over to compliment the work. On top of everything, James has a great sense of humor and is delightful to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable about his craft. We would not hesitate to recommend him and hire him again. "I received 3 bids for my driveway and garage project (LGC called within an hour of contacting Home Advisor), and all were comparable. What set Cristhian apart was the time he spent with me upfront addressing questions on various aspects of the job. When his crew arrived, they were very efficient, had the driveway and garage taken up within a day (3,000 sq feet), ran some drain lines, and were back to pave once the compacted base settled the following week. They were also careful on attention to detail, keeping me informed, and doing the job right. Punctual, efficient, very hard working, would highly recommend!"

"Excellent. This was a nasty/difficult job due to limited space but the guys from L&Z worked at it until it was done. They did an excellent job of the finishing cement work and even went beyond attending to all the small details. When I asked for some additional work there was no problem performing the extra items at a very fair price. The men who worked on this job were polite and very consciencious of the fact they they were in our home. They did a great clean up job. Thanks Oscar and Ignacio for a great job and thanks to Luis Z we have a really nice walkway in the basement. I would highly recommend L&Z and would most certainly use them again. "The driveway project was an Belgium blocks and asphalt paved driveway. The driveway was really unsafe beforr the upgrade. The drive looks amazing and so many people have commented and inquired about the contractor. "This was the 2nd time I hired Alex Masonry; last year, I had them rebuild the stone retaining walls adjacent to my front entry stairs and widen the stairs as well (see photo and last spring's review).
This year, I wanted to replace my crumbling asphalt driveway, repaving the lower sloped end but using pavers on the top end near the garage, which is level. IMO, there's nothing uglier than a large expanse of cracked and potholed asphalt.
I had the contractor who will repave the lower end tear up the old asphalt on the entire driveway; then Alex's crew arrived as scheduled and performed the work as promised. The finished driveway is beautiful; it looks more like a courtyard than a driveway.
Alex is always pleasant and easy to work with and if you have specific ideas or concerns, he's responsive to your needs. The crew worked very quickly and did quality work. I'm in love with my driveway and I can't wait to show it off.
The price was not cheap but they had a pretty big area to cover, including a large space to left of garage that you can't see in the photo. I believe they  used 9 pallets of pavers. Maybe I could have gotten cheaper pavers, but Alex had faith in this particular brand, Unilock Camelot, so that's what we went with.
The driveway has just improved my home's curb appeal by about 300%. Thanks, Alex & crew!"
