"We worked with Hector on 3 projects recently. He was able to take over a bathroom renovation project that we started, but needed a professional to help finish. He also completely repaired our ceiling under the bathroom as there was a significant amount of water damage that required more attention than just some simple patching. Separately, he repaired multiple rotten window sills we had, fixing the carpentry and then completing all the finishing work around the windows. For the bathroom project, it was fairly difficult work on the ceiling, specifically around the soffits but Hector was able to complete the work quickly and efficiently. He has a good eye for details and he doesn’t rush. He definitely cares about how things are going to look in the end and he takes the right amount of time to do it right, never skipping steps. He’s fair and always does what he says he is going to do. Overall just a really nice guy. We will definitely work with Hector and his team in the future. "

Humberto, his son, and their team replaced drywall, baseboards, primed and painted both rooms. They redid the laundry room floors, and the vanity in the bathroom. Plastering lasts for around 15 to 20 years without needing repairs or maintenance in most cases, and with proper upkeep, plastering can last a lifetime—sometimes more than 100 years. Plaster repair costs between $1 and $3 per square foot, and you may need these services once every 15 to 20 years or so unless you have a harsh climate where humidity changes are a constant issue. You can also opt to skim-coat plaster for between $0.90 and $1.30 per square foot, which may serve you better in the long run.

Smaller is better when patching holes with spackle. Any holes wider than four to six inches in diameter tend to be too wide to repair with spackle alone. You'll likely want to patch bigger holes with a drywall panel. 

Even holes measuring up to 6 inches may be challenging to fill with spackle alone. For best results, purchase a wall repair patch made from wire mesh. Cut the patch to fit over the hole, then use the spackle to hold it in place. Apply the spackle over the patch as you would for a smaller hole.

How long it takes to repair a ceiling depends on the extent of the damage. Patching a small hole might only take a few minutes, while repairing a water-damaged section of the ceiling could take hours. If there are structural issues, expect your ceiling repair to take several days or longer.

Venetian plaster is very easy to maintain. As long as your plaster is properly sealed, you can safely wipe it down with water and mild soap to remove any scuffs or stains. And if your plaster wall cracks or chips, you can often simply patch it rather than replastering the whole wall to restore its appearance.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.
