Lozier is also licensed by the New York State Department of Labor for the handling of asbestos materials (restrictive, non-abatement activities) and mold assessments. Current specialty services include asbestos surveys, design, project/air monitoring, food production quality control analysis, mold investigations/sampling and analysis, indoor air quality for commercial, industrial, and residential sites, OSHA compliance/negative exposure assessments, lead paint surveys, microbiological water analysis, food and environmental swab analysis and particle analysis. In some cases, local housing grants help homeowners who have to remove asbestos as part of home repairs. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also provides funding to help schools manage asbestos removal, but it doesn’t extend to homeowners.

While there are some sealants designed to be spray-painted over asbestos to encapsulate it, you still want to make sure it’s a specifically designed product for this purpose—not just run-of-the-mill spray paint. Furthermore, be sure you aren’t inadvertently spraying the asbestos fibers around when you take on this project, and as always, be sure to wear the proper protective gear, including a P-100-rated respirator and a disposable body suit, so as not to inadvertently breathe in or spread asbestos fibers.
