"The job went prefect . They were competitively priced . The men arrived the first day and you knew they were professional's . They were able to tell you the amount of days for completion of the job on the first day . They worked very neatly .Putting a metal roof on is art form, the roof looks great. It was a pleasure to have them on the job ."

"I had ice dams on my roof which made water trickle down my upstairs bedroom walls. I posted on Angi and within hours Brian called. I told him the problem, he gave me details of what needed to be done and explanations of prices. Very good communication; he was in constant contact with me as things progressed. He said he was very busy with other customers, but made it a priority to get to my roof right away. He sent his crew (Very friendly) in a timely manner early in the morning. They shoveled the roof and removed very large ice chunks. Brian reached out to me that afternoon to see if the leak stopped (yes) and if everything was to satisfaction (Yes). Would recommend based on exceptional communication alone. Would definitely recommend!"

"Erie Homes was great. Ty and Chris shared the information about roofs in a clear and precise way. I love the high quality of the roofing materials and the standards they hold their workers to when placing the roof. Mike called me each step of the way, so I was prepared when the roofing supplies showed up. I even got calls after the beautiful roof was done. Amazing job!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Your chimney needs a structurally sound chimney cap, protective lining, damper, chimney flashing, and brick and mortar to prevent water from goind down your chimney. A pro can help you identify where the issue is so that you can stop water from coming down the smoke shaft, through your damper, and into your home.

Ideally, you shouldn’t pay your roofer upfront unless you’re special-ordering materials. However, anything between 10% and 15% of the project’s cost is reasonable to pay upfront. Avoid making a final payment until after the roof gets completed.

Technically speaking, yes, verbal agreements and “handshake deals” can be legally binding contracts that will hold up in court, but the suing party will need to be able to prove that the parties entered into the contract. Even though verbal and handshake deals can be binding, it’s risky to rely on these types of agreements for anything, including roofing projects. Always aim to get your contract in writing, and make sure it includes all terms and that you don’t agree to additional terms that don’t appear in the contract.

The lifespan of asphalt shingles is typically between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type of shingle and other factors. Standard 3-tab shingles have the shortest lifespan, around 10 to 15 years. Architectural shingles last longer, averaging 20 to 25 years. Luxury or designer asphalt shingles are the most durable, with a lifespan of 40 years or more. Climate, installation quality, and regular maintenance also play a significant role in how long your shingles will last. Signs that they need replacement include granule loss, bald spots, and roof leaks.

Architectural shingles and impact-resistant shingles aren’t mutually exclusive, which means some architectural shingles are impact-resistant shingles. Architectural shingles are thicker and more durable than standard 3-tab shingles, and they become even stronger when they also have high impact resistance and wind resistance ratings. The most durable shingles for areas with extreme weather are architectural or luxury shingles that have a Class-4 impact resistance and a Class-H wind resistance that can stand up to winds reaching 150 mph.
