"The job went prefect . They were competitively priced . The men arrived the first day and you knew they were professional's . They were able to tell you the amount of days for completion of the job on the first day . They worked very neatly .Putting a metal roof on is art form, the roof looks great. "I had ice dams on my roof which made water trickle down my upstairs bedroom walls. I posted on Angi and within hours Brian called. I told him the problem, he gave me details of what needed to be done and explanations of prices. Very good communication; he was in constant contact with me as things progressed. He said he was very busy with other customers, but made it a priority to get to my roof right away. He sent his crew (Very friendly) in a timely manner early in the morning. They shoveled the roof and removed very large ice chunks. Brian reached out to me that afternoon to see if the leak stopped (yes) and if everything was to satisfaction (Yes). Would recommend based on exceptional communication alone. Would definitely recommend!"

"Erie Home Basement Solutions was a pleasure to work with. Everyone was on time, and always polite and courteous throughout this process. This is extremely hard work and they continued to always have a smile on their face and answer any questions I had. They worked diligently to complete the project on time and fulfilled all aspects of the contract. Actually, they went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with their service, which is unusual in todayâ s work culture. I would highly recommend this company for your basement waterproofing needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, a tile roof will increase the value of your home more than an asphalt shingle roof. Not only do tile roofs look nicer and add more to your curb appeal, but buyers will understand that roof tiles last longer than most other materials, so they can expect minimal maintenance and a long roof lifespan after closing, which often means they’ll be willing to pay more for a home with this roof option.

The number of snow guards you’ll need on your roof depends on factors like the type of roof you have, its slope, the orientation of your home, and the snow load in your area. A local roofing professional or the snow guard manufacturer can help you determine the ideal amount.

Spray foam roofs don’t stand up well to impact, so they won’t last as long as something like a tar and gravel roof and other flat roof materials in areas where extreme weather is common. Due to the reduced durability, you’ll also need more frequent maintenance and repairs for a spray foam roof, and those costs will add up over time. Spray foam roofs are relatively uncommon, so you may also struggle to hire a roofing contractor who can install one.

A roof replacement can take anywhere from one to 14 days. For most homes, a full replacement that includes tearing off old materials takes about one to two days, though the average project can last up to 12 days. The exact timeline depends on several factors, including the roof's size and complexity, the type of roofing material, the crew size, and weather conditions. Certain materials take longer to install; for example, metal roofs can take seven to 14 days because the material is more difficult to work with than asphalt shingles, wood, or tile. A re-roofing project, where new shingles are installed over old ones, can take half the time or less. It's also important to factor in the time needed to obtain necessary permits. A professional roofing contractor will typically complete the job faster than a DIY approach.

The number of roof vents necessary for a 2,000-square-foot house depends on several factors. The calculation depends on the net free area within the attic and whether your municipality requires a 1/150 or a 1/300 ratio of venting square feet to attic square feet. If you install vents with a square-foot opening of one, you'll need either 14 or seven exhaust vents and an equal square-foot amount of intake vents.
