"Punctual, friendly, hard-working, and fast. We needed our gravel driveway paved and Saul and crew did an outstanding job. within about five hours they did our entire driveway from beginning to end. Looks great, I can't wait to park on it. Professional and skilled I would invite this crew to work for me anytime. Absolutely five stars."

"Great driveway but he suggested in fall to sealcoat...so I texted and called and reached out on Angie’s list to leave message...no return messages.so I figured he only wants big money jobs....to me he-lied and that is no-good business practice...he could at least contacted me and said he was busy or call someone else..to me it is shady I found a great guy who lives nearby..i only regret not having him put driveway in"

"Hicks Paving went the extra mile taking the time to really consider what I wanted done. Our driveway was in rough shape and they took the time go through my options and explain what would work best for me. They painstakingly removed all of the old asphalt and hidden concrete and replaced it with a great new asphalt driveway with great attention to detail."

"The project went extremely well. They arrived on time, were extremely professional and at each step of the process, they asked me if I wanted to check their work. I am very happy with my driveway and would definitely hire them again!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. By comparison, you may need to reseal or redo a full asphalt driveway if just one portion sustains a significant crack.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.
