"We hired David Browe Paving to tear up our old driveway and put down a completely new driveway. They listened to my concerns about the grade and drainage of the old driveway, and addressed them when they installed the new driveway. The new driveway looks great, and I feel we got an excellent job for a fair price."

"We are very pleased that we chose EcoQuality Landscaping for our job!  The finished product looks fantastic, and everything went smoothly, start to finish.  Andrew's estimate for the work was very competitive, he was responsive to our requests, and let us know when the start date for the job was delayed due to wet weather.  He and his workers came when they said they would, worked efficiently, and were courteous and pleasant.  Andrew was very detail oriented and kept me well informed on the progress of the work, asking my opinion on each decision as the project progressed. They spent time and energy making sure the job was done right. Both the driveway and walkway look wonderful and turned out better than anticipated.  I would hire them again without hesitation.

"More than satisfied!! New driveway looks great as well as the new sidewalk too. Great group of guys very friendly an very hard working. Even made for good conversation. Feel they went above an beyond in the work they did. What impressed me most was how Tim spent at least a half hour explaining in detail what he was gonna do what materials were gonna be used an why an that was just during the quote I asked for. May have been a little more money than some of the other quotes but explained a lot more an again feel more materials were used to make sure the job was done right an looked great. A huge thank you to Tim an his team for the work done an look forward to having them back next year for a seal coat on the driveway."

"From the first estimate to the final cleanup, the whole experience was great! They were professional and showed up when they said they would. They completely transformed our yard with new landscaping, mulch beds, and trimming, and everything looks clean and polished. Fair pricing for the amount of work. We’ve already had neighbors asking who did our landscaping. Highly recommend!"

"From the initial phone call for an estimate I knew I didn’t need to look for anyone else, and I didn’t. I was so impressed with the estimate process, i knew Zach was the man for the job. Although we had the winter ahead of us, it was an outside project, he gave me a start date and he was able to start a day early. Every step of the way, prep, layout, delivery, and application of the concrete, to the final completion, could not have been better. If you have a concrete job, Anytime Concrete is the only thing you need. Zach and his professional team will get the job done. Perfect from start to finish."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

In terms of durability, concrete driveways can last more than 50 years when properly maintained, compared to the typical 30 years for an asphalt driveway. However, the durability depends on the climate, base material and thickness, and thickness of the concrete or asphalt used. The longevity of concrete or asphalt driveways also depends on how well it’s maintained and the amount of wear and tear it endures.

If you notice minor cosmetic problems with your driveway, you should seal it. Look out for cracks and holes on the surface, faded asphalt or concrete, and stains from oil and other chemicals. Replacing your driveway may be necessary if you’re dealing with significant problems—¼-inch cracks, large potholes, and puddles from drainage issues. The cost to install an asphalt driveway typically ranges between $4,200 and $9,000, significantly more than resealing. Consider talking to a professional to discuss whether resurfacing your driveway—a midway project between resealing and replacing—is a better option for you.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.
