"Over the past few years I have had Tree Fellers perform four tree removal projects. Rob and his crew are consistently reliable, efficient, concerned for my property, and charge absolutely reasonable fees. Dealing with Rob and Laurie is always a pleasure, and I would recommend nobody else to anyone who needs any kind of tree work done."

"My husband and I are extremely blessed and grateful for the opportunity to have met Rubin from A & R Tree Services and his Crew. We had them remove several trees from our property and the work they did was absolutely amazing. Rubin, along with his crew are very professional, respectful, and extremely hard working. They gave us a very reasonable estimate and the work they did was absolutely beyond what we expected. This is a â Greatâ company and would recommend them to anyone!"

"I was extremely happy with the work that was done. They cut down about 18 trees from my backyard. They cleaned up and even cut my hedges for free. I was so happy with the job they did I hired them to landscape my backyard."

"Can't go wrong with this tree contractor. His guys showed up at 7:45 and were finished at 9:30am. 4 guys took down a 50ft. tree in 1.5 hours including all the clean up and blow the grass & driveway clean. I was very impressed thinking it would take most of the day. These guys knew what they were doing and had it down to a science. WOW I would definitely hire them again. There price was very reasonable and Ivan was easy to work with. Great Work Guys!!!"

"I can't say enough positive things about this group. They were punctual, professional, and showed great attention to detail. And they offered very competitive pricing to boot! They worked all day on my yard, eliminating and removing 2 large oak trees, an extremely tall hickory tree, 9 pine trees, and a "widow-maker" deciduous tree in 100 degree heat. My kids and I tried to bring them food, drinks, chairs, etc... , but we had to be EXTREMELY forceful for them to accept our offering. I'm very tight-fisted with money, but I opted to tip over $400 because of my appreciation and respect for the work they performed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It could be anywhere from weeks to years for a dead tree to fall. A dead tree falls based on its weight, how it leans, the state of its roots, the state of decay, and what local windstorms are like, among other factors. Since it’s hard to predict the fall’s timing, it’s important to cut down a dead tree quickly and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

It’s not as common for Dutch elm disease to affect other types of trees, especially if the surrounding trees aren’t elms. However, it is possible for DED to spread to other trees, particularly in northern states, like Minnesota. In fact, it’s a good idea to use geography to identify wood and determine which types of trees are in your yard.

Unfortunately, the complex and shallow root system of elm trees makes surrounding elm trees particularly vulnerable to DED. Early discovery is key!

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.
