"Great work, very professional, friendly, and overall a pleasant gentleman to work with. Hired him to drywall two full bedrooms. Unintentional made him have to some framing due to work I did (sorry about that). He took it in stride.. Wish I could do half stars, I would give him 4.5 stars out of 5. The reason being, there was a drywall that wasnt installed in an out of sight part of one closet. I will easily install myself, but for transparency I thought I mention it. Would 100% hire him again if I have the chance."

Customers say: Quick response

"Palla Painting is far above any other contractor I have ever used. The response time to my inquiry was immediate, the owner scheduled me for the next day to look at the job and the job was completed a few days later. In this day and age it's hard to get a contractor to return a call, never mind actually follow through. Blerim from Palla Painting arrived today and he and his partner fixed cracks in the ceilings (one was ready to fall) in several rooms. They fixed peeling drywall tape and then then painted the kitchen, living room, foyer, hallway and 2 bedrooms. What an amazing job they did! Blerim and his partner were professional, efficient and friendly. The price was fair and the work done was outstanding. I highly recommend Palla Painting! Thank you Blerim!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, as drywall mud is going to have some uneven spots and bumps after application. Such imperfections are going to be visible after everything dries and even after you paint the wall, so you want to remove them. Learning how to sand drywall, taking your time, and following drywall sanding tips can help you have the best results.

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.

To hide drywall edges, you need to properly apply drywall tape and multiple layers of joint compound. These materials hide the seams between drywall sheets and fill the holes from drywall screws, leaving behind a smooth, flat finish to paint over. Apply joint compound smoothly, and finish the job by sanding the walls to make sure you fully hide drywall edges and other imperfections.
