"They arrived on time and made a walk-through of the house to determine locations and the number of all air vents. They explained thoroughly the steps they would take and the cost. As they did the work, they were very careful of the furnishings and were very good about cleaning up afterwards. The house has two heating/cooling zones, but don't take too much time to finish that part of the job. Tom then crawled under the deck to access/clean the dryer vent. They completed the entire job verry fast. I am very pleased with their work and with the result."

"I was having a heat wave in Las Vegas and my AC unit was not working. I called Fast Response Services and they came out the same day to fix it. The technician, John, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything he was doing and answered all of my questions. He was able to fix the AC unit quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with the service I received from Fast Response Services. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC services."

"Robert Abrego (owner) and his crew from Home Improvements Enterprise were wonderful. The company is from Las Vegas, NV. and our home is Pahrump, NV. From purchase to installation was a total of 15 days. Roberts crew on the installment were very efficient and professionial , after completion they took all the old windows for disposal. I will be utilizing Robert's company again in 2020 for the remaining 3 windows as their are the most affordable with great results. Pahrump NV"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You should use a breathable, weather-resistant cover with ventilation. It can be a top cover or a full cover that has mesh to allow airflow. A full, non-breathable cover can cause moisture to build up, leading to rust, frozen parts, and corrosion. A full cover also attracts unwanted critters, such as mice, that can damage the wiring and your unit. If you need to protect your AC unit from falling icicles, choose a sturdy top cover or piece of wood that prevents icicles from damaging your unit.

If you’re looking for a portable, budget-friendly cooling solution that doesn’t require any venting or installation, a ventless AC system is a good option. Similarly, this is a great choice if you’re renting an apartment or home and aren’t allowed to make large, structural changes like installing comprehensive HVAC, or you’re in a shared space and only need to cool your own room.

No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.

You can protect your air conditioner in the winter by turning off the power at the thermostat and performing routine HVAC maintenance in the spring. Regular maintenance, cleaning, and repair of your AC unit helps protect it and extend its life span. If you have a window AC unit, remove it from the window and store it in a dry place during the winter. Window units cannot withstand freezing temperatures. Keeping them in your window also allows cold air to seep into your home.

The $5,000 rule for HVAC systems helps homeowners decide whether to repair or replace an AC or furnace. Take the quote for the HVAC repair cost and multiply that by the age of the HVAC system. If the total is higher than $5,000, it’s more cost-effective to replace the system. If the total is lower than $5,000, consider repairing the system.
