"Mr. Exparza came out and gave us a free estimate for parapet repair work
as well as interior drywall repair. We chose to have the parapet work
done by Blusky NM Drywall. Mr. Esparza was fair, super honest and
professional. Love this guy. His team came out and had the repairs done
within  two working days from beginning to end. All repairs were
completed as promised. This team was respectful, polite and courteous.
Also this team did a great job of matching the parapet repair work to
the existing stucco color. Beautiful work. Thanks guys!

"We had a leak in our flat-roof. Santa Fe Stucco and Roofing, which had the earliest availability, came out and recommended replacing the entire living room roof (which is separated from other roof areas by a parapet). We agreed, and the work began in a timely manner and proceeded on schedule. At the time of the original visit, it was also recommended that we replace the entire roof in the near future. Agreeing with the assessment, and seeing how the work on the living room roof went, we signed a new agreement for that. First, all contact with the people at Santa Fe Stucco and Roofing went very well. They were courteous and responsive, the area was left clean, and when I had issues (an area that had been overlooked, some minor problems with the coating), they had someone out very soon. We do have an unexpected problem, which others might want to be aware of. The sample of the Gaco product was soft, and 1/10 inch thick. On our roof, the Gaco surface is much thinner, relatively hard (there is foam beneath), and slick. The thickness was addressed by the owner and person who had given us the first estimate and worked with us thereon, though I never fully understood that explanation. The reason the rest matters is noise. Unlike gravel over foam, which we had, or torch-down or other alternatives, which many of our neighbors have (all of whom have flat roofs), Ours is now loud. In the wind, small twigs and other roof debris slide around creating quite a disturbance: we had next-door neighbors visiting when the wind picked up; they were certain a car was coming down our gravel driveway. Our neighbors have torch-down. An insignificant rainfall sounds, from in the house, like a significant break in the drought; a nice, soaking rain forces us to turn off the TV, the stereo, the radio. I would use Santa Fe Stucco and Roofing again, but not the Gaco product, unless it was over a new foam or other insulator, and unless it had the surface and texture of the sample we were presented."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"Mariano was very professional and did an excellent job. He was hired for the concrete slab for the foundation for our home and we asked him to return to do the drywall on a separate building we built. Both projects turned out excellent and we plan on using this company for any future projects."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Furring strips, thin strips of wood or metal, are not always required for ceiling drywall installation. If the ceiling surface is even and in good condition, drywall can be directly attached to the ceiling joists using screws. However, furring strips become essential when dealing with irregular surfaces or when additional insulation or soundproofing is needed. They create a level substrate for attaching the drywall. Ultimately, the decision to use furring strips depends on the condition of the existing ceiling and the specific requirements of the project.

All plaster walls will crack over time due to normal house settling and expansion and contraction from temperature and moisture changes. Small, thin hairline cracks are generally not serious and are mostly a cosmetic issue. However, larger or more significant cracks can indicate structural problems.

Here's how to tell the difference:

  • Cosmetic Cracks: Cracks that are 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) or thinner are typically cosmetic.

  • Structural Cracks: Cracks wider than 0.5 cm, excessive or deep cracks, multiple cracks in the same area, or cracks that span around corners can signify a structural or foundation issue. Cracks along the joints where walls meet the ceiling also warrant attention.

For cracks wider than 0.5 cm, structural repair is needed. If a crack is 2.5 cm (1 inch) or wider, or if you notice any signs of a structural problem, it is best to contact a plaster repair professional to assess the damage.

Yes, as drywall mud is going to have some uneven spots and bumps after application. Such imperfections are going to be visible after everything dries and even after you paint the wall, so you want to remove them. Learning how to sand drywall, taking your time, and following drywall sanding tips can help you have the best results.

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.
