"Kevin showed up on time and ready to repair my electrical box problems. He took less than an hour. Although he came out of Taos, one hour away, there was no trip charge. I will definitely be calling him again very soon for some different electrical issues. He took care of the immediate problem and all has been working well since he left. , now a couple of weeks."

"My house was under construction. and had already gotten struck by lightning so time was critical as I knew it could happen again. I have a home with tall roof peaks and built on a hill. They came out quickly and started right away and their prices were way less than the other company s. I will use them again when my barn is constructed."

"It has been very difficult to find reliable, honest, contractors in this area. Patrick McGinnis was both reliable and honest. He did excellent work, worked steadily, and was knowledgable. Further, when he learned that I rely on social security, he volunteered that he gave a senior discount which was a great help to me. Recommend highly!"

"So impressed with his immediate response, then problem solving with me through photos and outlet testing without requiring $ up front, prior to completion of job. Very knowledgeable and continuously responsive! Will post more once job complete, but am very impressed so far!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

When wiring a switch, the power typically comes into the receptacle first. The neutral wire goes straight to the outlet, while the hot wire is split. You'll need a wire nut to splice the hot wire back to one of the receptacles, but you will also tie another wire into that same wire nut and run to the switch. That way, you can control the flow of electricity to that particular receptacle by turning the switch on and off.

Yes, you can plug an extension cord or an outlet extender into a GFCI outlet. The GFCI outlet will still be able to protect your system in the same way.

Rewiring projects cost anywhere between $1,500 and $10,000 on average, depending on the complexity and the size of the rewiring. You can anticipate spending between $2 and $4 per square foot of wire, including labor and materials. Wire material ranges from $0.25 to $1.60 per linear foot.

According to the National Electrical Code (NEC), GFCI outlets should be installed in wet or damp locations where they might be splashed with water or other liquids. This is to protect against ground faults, which are more common around water. Specific areas that require GFCI outlets include kitchens (especially near counters), bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, garages, and all outdoor receptacles. Depending on local electrical codes, you may need at least one GFCI outlet in these rooms, or every outlet in the area may need to be GFCI protected.
