"Hoover’s was the ONLY one to get back to me and rather quickly. I decided to go ahead and use them. Aaron and Marcos were very professional and polite. Cleaned my HVAC ducts, exhaust vents, and my dryer vent (which was really dirty btw) in a timely manner and put everything back on when they were done. They cleaned up after themselves and even covered my stuff with plastic as they went. They took off their shoes as they came in and put down towels on the corners of furniture and the walls to avoid damaging them. Not sure if they were the cheapest option but they were the best option in my opinion. I’d definitely use them again. Thank you Marshall for answering me back and Aaron and Marcos for taking care of my vents."

Aire Serv did great quality work on repairing, crafting and installing improved ducting for our central air system. Our A/C is working better than it ever has at quickly cooling/heating our house. Unfortunately it was a nightmare trying to arrange a date and time for the maintenance. I have to schedule time off in advance in order to be home during the day, but every time they tried to schedule the installation it was very short notice, and through email which they did not respond to for usually a few days. It took about 5 emails and a few phone calls, and they were only able to schedule the install when I told them I was going to go with another company. Again, if you want great quality work and are willing to wait for the maintenance for almost 2 months, then go with Aire Serv."

No, not all houses have ducts. It would be safe to say, however, that most modern houses do. The reason is that older houses had boilers in the basement that heated from the bottom up and often vents weren’t built into the house. Another reason is that older homes don’t have air conditioning (because it didn’t exist) and use radiators for heating. Since radiators don’t require ductwork, it wasn’t built.

Different air vents may go by other terms, including registers, vent covers, grilles, return vents, or supply vents. Registers are the moving slats that can open or close the vent, while grilles or grills are the same as vent covers, the piece of plastic or metal over the vent opening. Supply vents move the warm or cool air from the air ducts into a room, while return vents pull air from a room back to the HVAC system for conditioning.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that there's no conclusive evidence to show that dirty or dusty air ducts increase dust and airborne particles in your home or pose any risk to your health. On the other hand, your air ducts require cleaning if there's any mold or mildew, you have a rodent or insect infestation, or you have clogged ducts. Regular air duct cleaning will also extend the life of your HVAC system, leading to less frequent repairs and preventing premature replacement in the future.

You have two different types of air vents in your home: supply and return air vents. Your supply air vents are responsible for pushing air into your home. Meanwhile, return air vents draw warmer air back into the ductwork to condition it by removing the warm molecules from it. Both types of vents are necessary to a working HVAC system and a comfortable home.

Furnace maintenance is crucial to keeping your home warm in the colder months. In addition, it's always best to read your furnace manual for additional information on necessary maintenance to extend its lifespan. Some ways to maintain your furnace include:
