"He went around to all of the leaking faucets I listed and explained how they couldn't be fixed.  I had a new faucet that I was going to install in the guest bathroom and he did install that.  I would have failed him but for that and the fact that he was polite and careful not to tack dirt into my house.  As it happens, I spent $109.00 to change out a faucetI could have done myself.

"The plumber came out on Sunday night and replaced the washer box. He was so nice and professional. He replaced it quickly. I really appreciate TLC for having someone working after hours. I feel that the price was fair. On Sunday night at 11pm, I thought I would pay more. I asked him for advice on keeping my plumbing healthy and he looked at my hot water heater and water softener and gave me the advice I needed."

"While the owner is very nice, if I don’t turn the faucet just right it leaks. Also, the hot and cold are backwards. When I pointed this out to the plumber he indicated that was the only way the faucet could go in. I don't recall any issues with scheduling."

Basement Drainage Channels - Install

"Work was done in July 2021. Our 18-year old house had problems with root intrusion in the sewer main line (house to street). A big company recommended the entire main line be replaced out to the middle of the street using trenchless digging. Their estimate was super expensive ($$,$$$), with 3 days work and the street shut down. So we checked out reviews on Angi.com and chose All-Out for an estimate. Ron surveyed the site, reviewed the video from inside the pipe, and determined that only a section needed to be replaced and it wouldn't involve any of the city line. He wrote up his estimate on the spot for less than a quarter of the big company's huge price. Ron was up-front about the scale of the job (all day, with a 1-2 hour sewer line outage) and the likely impact on our xeriscaped yard. Everyone at All-Out was professional, knowledgeable, and informative. The All-Out crew, Thomas and Oscar, showed up on time and had the two holes (3' and 6' going directly under a tree!) hand dug and the line replaced in one long hard day's work just as promised. They were very knowledgeable and took time to answer all our questions. They came back after a city inspection to fill in the holes and restore the yard. Everything was done as promised, on time, at the quoted price. They saved us a lot of money and bother, and in the future we will definitely call on them for our plumbing and maintenance needs."

Basement Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

Water that pools on concrete indicates a low spot somewhere on your driveway. You can level the slab with a concrete patching compound to help redirect water. You can also install drainage over existing concrete by digging out enough space for a channel drain or French drain or by adding a culvert below the slab.

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

Mold and mildew are the things in basements that actually cause the musty odors, but moisture is the underlying issue that causes mold and mildew growth. Addressing moisture and water problems and then removing materials that are moldy are some of the best ways to get rid of the musty odors. Preventive measures after that—like installing air fresheners and a dehumidifier—can help keep musty odors from returning.
