"Adam was professional and made some suggestions. There was no attempt to sell more than I needed. He also put a brace on the top of the garage door where it would bow for no charge. The entire repair took less than 30 minutes. Will definitely recommend to others and use them again!"

"Precision Garage Door is absolutely the best. Their products are extremely high quality, their prices are great for any project, and their install service and attention to detail is just amazing. We have used Precision for several big projects (adding new and quiet motors for classic/heavy wood doors; replacing old garage doors with brand new ones, and even installing high-end contemporary garage doors to match the modern construction style of a brand new house). Precision Garage Door can do it all, and we highly recommend this company."

"We had our garage door spring break on a Friday. American Home Shield couldn't get anyone to come out before the following week, so we inquired as to which Garage Door Companies would fix it as emergency, since my wife has medical conditions and needs to be able to travel. Of the two Garage Door Companies that are available 24 hours, A1 Garage Door Service LLC was the only one that could be there same evening. They got to our home to fix the broken spring so we could open the Garage around 8:00 pm."

"I received several quotes. Called Island Garage Doors - Jeff Peres. He was the most knowledgeable, explained exactly what I needed at a cheaper price. He was timely and did a beautiful job. Left my garage spotless. I paid exactly what he quoted. I would give Jeff's name to anyone looking for repairs or a new door. Thank you Jeff."

"

About half of our kitchen and half of the utility room had become bowed by water leaking under the floor from a water heater.  We discovered the water heater leak and replaced it, but were not aware of the extent of the problem. No one wanted the job!  It wasn't big enough for them. Ramon Acosta of D&R Services determined the extent of the damage and gave us a fair estimate. His team obtained the floor covering we selected and did a beautiful job of putting it down covering both affected rooms after replacing the floor itself.  There was also damage to a door jam that required additional structural work, which they also handled. They cleaned everything up and left nothing for us to have to do ourselves.

Garage Doors questions, answered by experts

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.

Garage door freezing is prompted by snowfall and freeze/thaw cycles instead of the temperature. If you get a lot of moisture around the garage door, whether from rain or melting snow, and temperatures quickly drop below freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit) at night, that’s a recipe for a frozen garage door. Winters with steep temperature drops overnight are more likely to create this problem, especially low temperatures to sustain a freeze, so weather in the lower 20s is a common culprit.

The lifespan of garage door springs depends on the type and quality of the springs, the physical environment, and the level of use. In general, properly installed and maintained springs open and close a garage door around 10,000 times . That equates to around seven years if you open and close the door about four times a day. If you use your garage door more frequently, live in a very cold or humid environment that promotes corrosion or rust, or have a very heavy door, your springs may wear out faster and require replacing sooner.

If your cement garage floor is sinking and cracking, your first step should be to call a local structural engineer to assess the problem. They can determine if it’s a minor amount of sinking related to normal settlement or if the issue is structural in nature. If you do have structural damage, the engineer or a foundation repair company that you hire will come up with a plan to fix the issue, which often consists of mudjacking for less severe issues or underpinning for more extensive problems.

During a garage door tune-up, a pro will check and adjust your door’s components, looking for any damage and loose cables, springs, or rollers. The pro will also lubricate moving parts, like the hinges and rollers, and likely tighten some screws and bolts. They’ll also adjust the door opener’s tension and alignment to make sure it’s level. Finally, they’ll wash the door to ensure it’s clean, and test the auto-reverse mechanism to make sure it’s working as it should.
