"Shawn was responsive, professional, knowledgeable and honest. He inspected our home, and told us with integrity that no more inspection was needed - it was not a mold problem. He offered alternative solutions and problem-solving ideas. Thank you!"

"Amazing guys who are so considerate and kind. They installed my new AC unit and found a leak in my roof while they were doing it, one that I didn't know I had! They also spotted issues with my duct work and are working with me to repair them. They replaced my water heater as well! Truly compassionate, affordable and very timely. I wouldn't hire anyone else. They are capable of everything and I plan on using them for lots of repairs. Cannot recommend enough!"

"Mold Remediation is EXPENSIVE!!!! Do NOT get mold if you can avoid it! However, if you do have mold, there is no need to look for anyone other than S.T.O.P. Restoration, LLC. Kegan and Jeremy were excellent to work with! FYI, mold testing needs to be done by a separate entity so that there will be no conflict of interest."

"We needed someone to install tile around the bathtub at an apartment unit we own. Joey at 2 Daughters Handyman came to the rescue. He quoted us a fair price based on what we could see. However, once he started the work other complications were discovered such as mold behind the existing wall. Joey and his crew were able to take care of each issue and charged us a fair amount for the extra work performed. We were very impressed with his willingness to get the job done in a timely manner. He even went to two or three places on his own to find the tile we wanted. We will definitely use 2 Daughters again and would recommend them to anyone needing his services.

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

Mouse urine and feces can carry all kinds of pathogens, including:

  • Tularemia

After you clean mildew or mold that appears in your home, you expect the nasty odor to disappear, too. Sometimes, though, the odor can linger after cleaning. To get rid of a mold smell, you may need to clean the area every few days for a few weeks. Use a dehumidifier or fans to try to remove moisture from the area. If the odor remains after a few weeks, you may still have mold or mildew in the area. Call a mold testing professional for another inspection.

To remove mold from fabric that’s part of your wood furniture, the best option is to take the fabric off and place it in the washing machine. If you cannot take the fabric off, it helps to move the furniture out into the sun. Use a high-quality vacuum to remove any mold spores that are present. You can try spraying the mold with a 50/50 vinegar-water mixture. Hydrogen peroxide is also a possibility for removing mold from fabric, but it could damage certain types of fabric.

The time it takes to remove mold from under silicone caulk depends on the severity of the mold infestation and the cleaning method used. The cleaning process itself can take a few hours, including the time needed for cleaning agents to sit and work on the mold. If re-caulking is required, additional time will be needed for removing old caulk, applying new caulk, and allowing it to cure, which can take up to 24 hours.

Many types of mold spores and fungi spores are constantly present in the air, but they need a friendly surface and moisture to grow. Should some of these spores land on paper or wood with significant moisture present—such as drywall with a paper cover that is soaking up water from a leak—mold or fungi could begin growing. Dampness from leaky pipes, condensation on windows, leaks in a roof, flooding in a basement, or high, prolonged humidity in a small area all can create the excess moisture that mold and fungi need to grow in your home.
