He gave us the price for what we wanted and told us we would be notified when the materials came in so we could schedule the start of the project. Running water can help melt ice inside the pipe, but only up to a certain point. If your pipe is frozen solid, adding water will not likely resolve the issue. Water will begin to flow through the affected pipe once the area is heated by a plumber, signaling the issue is getting resolved.
To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.
If you don’t want to remove the sink stopper, pour ½ cup of baking soda and 2 cups of boiling water down the drain. Start by pouring 1 cup of boiling water, then the baking soda, followed by the remaining cup of boiling water. Use caution as boiling water can damage PVC or other plastic piping. Using a scrub brush or slightly abrasive sponge, clean the top of the stopper, and run the faucet to ensure the drain is clear and the stopper is clean.
Vinegar could damage drain pipes in theory since it’s corrosive in large quantities. However, you would have to pour a whole lot of vinegar down the drain at regular intervals to cause any issues. Adding a bit every now and then to clear out clogs is fine.
Most experienced professionals can get an entire trenchless pipe lining project done in a single day, and smaller projects might take as little as three to four hours. If your technician uses machinery to dig the two access points, the job will likely be faster, whereas manual digging will take a bit longer and could push the project above six hours.
