Here is what happened in a nut-shell. The house is empty. I am getting ready to move in. We talked, agreed on a price (total job, not by the hour)(house to be painted is approx. 700 sq. ft., kitchen, living room, and bedroom, small closet in living room and small closet in bedroom) and he said he would start the next day. Great, I thought. He picked up the paint and when he got to my house, I paid him for the paint but not the job. The only supplies he brought were: roller(which he charged me for), brushes, and two drop cloths. No news paper, no trash bags, no clean up sponges. Even though the house is empty, I do have a few items in there. I had an old wool blanket on the kitchen counter that I had forgotten to put back in my car. To my horror, it was on the floor being used as a drop cloth. He never asked me if he could use it, he just took it upon himself to use it. Now my wool blanket had paint all over it. Later that night, after he had left. (he didn't finish the job and had to come back the next day) I went to take a shower and was looking for my hair towel. I had put it on a bathroom shelf with my toiletry bag earlier that day. I was not having the bathroom painted. Again to my horror, my hair towel was with his paint supplies full of paint. AGAIN, he did not ask me if he could use it. The next day, he came back to finish up. When he was done, he asked me for a sponge so he could clean up paint drips(which were everywhere). I had just bought a new pack of 3 sponges and I gave him one. A few minutes later, I saw he had helped himself to another one. He didn't even have a trash bag to throw his trash in, I had to give him one. And to boot, he didn't even take the trash with him. Left it for me to take care of. So now the day after the paint job was finished and no more painters, I am hanging curtains, I happen to look out the window, this is a side of the house that is never gone to. When to my horror again, one of my dog beds was thrown behind the house full of paint. He had taken the dog bed from the front of the house and now threw it in the back, hoping I wouldn't see it, I guess. As for me, I will not hire him ever again. I will pay a little more for integrity. After their estimate they would not call us back, (probably too small of a job.) We got on to Angie's List and found Professional Contracting. We called them at 8;00am on December 18, 2014 and advised Monica what we needed. We were promptly returned with a call from Art. We were given an estimate that very day, and were advised that the job could be done the next day. The dry wall needed to be repaired first....Vincent arrived that day at noon and began the repair. On December 19, 2014 Professional Contracting called us to let us know that Mario would be arriving at 8:15 to begin work on putting tile in. . Mario arrived promptly at the designated time, after a short lunch break ( approx. 35 min) he returned to complete the job.. After the job was completed, Phillip came to inspect the work and to thank us for calling professional Contractors. Both Phillip and Mario swept our kitchen floor and the outside drive where the tile had been cut.We had been dealing with other contractors for over a month to No avail....just frustration.....and Professional Contractors completed our job in 24 hours!Everyone we dealt with were over and above courteous and professional! No job too large or Too Small for Professional Contractors!!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nm/belen/professional-contracting-reviews-2349672.htm"},"position":4},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"T Construction LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NM","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Thomas B."},"reviewBody":"We couldn't be happier with the service and the work. It was a messy project with a lot of grit, but Jeff did his best to keep the mess in the smallest part of the house possible. He cleaned up every evening before he left. He always let us know what time he would be back the next morning and what else to expect. The project lasted a little longer than he had initially estimated, but that was not his fault. The tile store had told us the tile was in stock when we purchased it. However, they did not have enough from one lot, so it had to be trucked from Tennessee. Also, the exposed back of a kitchen cabinet had some water damage that was not visible until the baseboard was removed. That involved some detailed cabinet work that we were very pleased Jeff was competent at completing. They were very polite, showed up on time, and cleaned up afterwards. I really liked them. They were hard workers.
The problem was at the store regarding the ordering and the service at Home Depot:
Originally the cabinet they ordered was too short and they didn't go ahead and automatically order it for me. They didn't explain the process to me so I didn't realize I needed to order another cabinet to have a complete bar There also is not enough trim.
I am currently waiting on all these items (10/25/2011).
I am however happy with the counter tops.
I would not recommend Home Depot for cabinets.

He even went so far as to say he would guarantee his work for up to 10 years. However, there was a leak in the roof that caused an 8 foot section of the sheet rock to collapse after a large storm in July 2010. The reason that the roof was leaking was because he did not put any flashing around the roof vent pipes, when the building inspector saw it, he noticed there needed to be flashing around it all. When I contacted him about the hole, he had his sons come out and try to fix the problem in the roof. They worked on it for a week, and then he came and said that he would not fix anything because he blamed it on the high winds of the storm, claiming that it was not his fault. We did not have 90 mile winds, as he stated, and there was no other damage to our home from storms. Because of the hole, water poured through the ceiling, ruining the carpet and the walls as it came in through the broom closet into the top of a bathroom. We turned this into our insurance company. the insurance adjustor came out, and he confirmed that the roof was not properly built, due to no flashing around the vent pipes. We had more rains coming, so we had to call another company to come and put a new roof on as soon as possible. One of the other problems is that we asked for textured walls in the kitchen to match the addition. The walls are cracked and not holding up--since I first submitted this report, I have found two other cracks. He said he was 99.9% sure that it was OK to texture over paneling. When we addressed that problem, he said that he would not stand behind the subcontractor that did it, even though he was the one that hired them and their work was in our bid. In the kitchen, he put in new tile that led into the hallway. The tile is not level at all, but he blames that on the house being old, which was never a concern during the bidding process. The grout is coming out from between the tiles in the kitchen floor and in the hallway. About a week after the concrete was poured for the patio, it started cracking. He did not pour footing to start with, nor did he use any rebar or joint expansions. Again, he claims that this damage is not his fault and that concrete will always crack. The building inspector confirmed that this was also faulty work by a contractor and was the fault of the contractor. The building inspector said he was going to red tag the patio, which I assumed meant that he was going to have to come and repair it. The inspector later told me that they had 180 days to complete the work after getting the proper permits, but that has come and gone, and nothing took place. We hired another contractor to fix that. We had 3 new doors put in, and they also put new frames in. I asked why they were changing frames, and they said you should do that with new doors, which is not true. The carpet was completely damaged when removing the frames. They knew about this damage, because they had the tile guy trying to repair the damage with glue, which of course did not work. When the work was originally done by A Custom Construction, he had his sons doing most of the work that wasn't sub contracted, as he said he was training his sons, but he was never around to supervise. We have had everything repaired by other companies other than the walls, the bedroom carpet, and the kitchen flooring. When he came the last time with the inspector, he told me that he would fix the patio and make it look real good, if I would be willing to let him write a letter giving him an A+ and I would sign it. I said absolutely not. We still have not had a final inspection of the electrical work from the original construction, which was over a year ago. He didn't show up the day that the inspector came to do that, and later told us that he forgot about it and was at another job.

"This was a trial job before a potential kitchen removal. It involved moving our boiler a short distance, walling off the area, fixing the floor, some electrical. The Babcock family themselves professional but didn't follow thru with the subs. The subs were only concerned with doing the fastest, cheapest job they could do (classic example is on the plumbing rework, the plumber substituted PEX for copper and the former isn't rated for the latter job)."

FAQs for kitchen cabinet refacing projects in Hobbs, NM
The cost of cabinet refacing is $7,230 on average. However, it's possible to pay between $1,200 and $16,000 for this project. Factors like the number of cabinets and the refacing materials impact the total cost significantly.
For example, plastic laminate is the most cost-effective cabinet option for refacing, costing $1,000 to $3,000. If you're looking for solid wood cabinets, you can expect to pay more, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 on average for refacing.
The cost to refinish cabinets is $3,000 on average. However, this cost can range from $700 to $6,000, depending on the size and location of the cabinets, the refinishing method, and number of cabinets.

The cost of home remodeling is $50,000 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range anywhere from $3,000 for a small projectto $170,000 for a whole home remodel. Factors like project size, location, and room type all affect your overall cost. For example, bedroom remodeling costs are one of the least expensive projects, costing about $1,500 to $5,500 per bedroom. However, a kitchen remodel has a significant cost range, totaling anywhere from $14,500 to over $70,000.
Yes, most states require home remodeling contractors to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed home remodeling contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The best time of year to remodel your home is late winter and early spring when fewer homeowners are thinking about projects and pros are more available. Also consider the type of remodel you want and plan ahead as much as possible. For example, the summer is a great time of year to update your fireplace, but winter is a better option for fixing foundations and building room additions.
