"We had a wonderful young man, Anthony, respond to our call for help with transforming our window treatments. Anthony was not only professional, but also kind, affable, polite, considerate, and informative. As soon as he was able to discern our needs and tastes, he provided guidance in making sure we get the best for our tight budget. We do not know if Anthony will be part of the installation process we scheduled, but I am writing to inform readers on how very satisfied we were with his first class consultation style. How refreshing! We had almost forgotten what customer service is like before we met this top-notch representative. Budge Blinds, can you, like, go out and teach other companies how to do things the right way?"

"The framing and installation of new picture window and restuccoing of back wall was done on time and very professionally. The ease of communication with Mr Reule and all of the workmen and their openess to concerns and questions was impressive. The replacement of the old skylights required some adaptation of the original odd framing, but the new skylights fit perfectly. Again the ease of communication was impressive  Mr Reule himself stopped by several times during the projects to monitor their progress and after the projects were completed to ensure our satisfaction.  Totally satisfied. "

"I was doing a photo shoot at a clients house,
however the house was completely empty since it was being in the process of
being sold. I decided to call up Homemade Design to see if they could stage the living
room and dining room for us. Amanda picked up the phone and said they would be
happy to help us and gave us a very comparable quote so I decided to go with
them. Their team showed up right on time and got to work immediately. I was
extremely happy with the results.  All of
the photos looked amazing! Thanks Homemade Design! I will be using you again in the
future.

"I've used them for about three years and they are good.  I've had them fix a couple things.  They have a $100 service call but fix what is broken.  I don't feel they try to get out of making repairs."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
