"I am so happy with the flooring job Tommy's did on my house. They totally removed all the gross carpet, tile and vinyl in my older house and hauled it all away so I wouldn't have to deal with it. They did such a beautiful job laying my new flooring and baseboard and gave such special attention to detail. They had no problem with all the weird nooks and crannies and were able to seamlessly lay the floor without even needing transitions. They were much more affordable than other quotes I recieved and even got the job done a full day earlier than expected! The crew leader Art was so kind and polite, I highly recommend them for any flooring needs you have. I waited for them since they are in such high demand and I am so glad I did, book them now and you won't regret it!"

"Cesar is professional, he was on time to our appointment. The professional paid attention to my needs, I would use their services again in the future. I wanted to hire them to do a job, but it was not part of their expertise. The professional gave me great advice, he gave me the best cost effective route; great experience working with him."

Floor Sanding questions, answered by experts

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

It is almost always necessary to hire a land surveyor near you to ensure your fence sits on the right side of the property line. Mistaking the shape of your property can lead to fines and costly changes if you have to move or adjust the privacy fence—not to mention some surly looks from your neighbor. We recommend jumpstarting your fence planning in the spring to ensure there is plenty of time to map out your plan before construction season.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.
