Their guarantee is not worth anything. He said that I have a long term guarantee on it but I've got problems with it now. I talked to him one time to come out and take a look at it, said he was going to bring his crew out and that's the last I heard from him. He refused to take my calls now. There are some trees that he put for me and he charged me 800 dollars per tree because I wanted 8 to 10 foot tall trees to replace the old ones that were dying. He came out with 3 foot tall trees. I expected it to be a lot cheaper but he charged me the same amount. One of the trees ended up dying anyway and I got no refund for that. I was willing to pay a little extra but he charges more than most people do. I told him in May of last year that the stucco was cracking and he should come out and fix it. I've called him multiple times an all I get is voice mail. Within the last month, the sprinkler system that he put in broke and started spraying water all over my yard. I ended up having like 3 inches of water standing in my backyard. I called him on that too and he wouldn't return my phone calls. I had to have another landscaper out here to fix that. He will not honor his guarantee.
Response from JKK Construction
"thank you for the opportunity to respond to the customer comments. The customer continues to complain on something that was under guarantee for 1 year. I will take a look at what he complaint is about and he as has called once in the last 2 months and not several times. The contract was signed and payments were made to what he agreed upon. He continues to complain on things that are 2 years old. again, if he was not happy with contract he shouldnt of signed and agreed in which he did and paid for it. He waited for over a year to start complaining. we will resolve this issue but there will be a charge toward the customer because it is over the year unless we can find that from the start of the contract and during it was our fault. The last thing said as the contract came to an end was that he wanted more work and he would call us and he gave me the last scheduled check. if there was something wrong or he disliked our services then there was not indication. To our future customers, this doesnt reflect our professionalism and the way we do business. sometimes its not always the contractors fault. we will resolve this once and for all. thank you."

Initially the project was delayed by a few days due to the architect's inability to produce the plan as promised in a timely manner.  The architect was not a JKK employee but was hired by JKK to do the task.  Once the plan was produced and the permit was obtained, the construction of my carport went smoothly.  I was thoroughly satisfied with their work.  I have known JKK Construction (Armando Hernandez) since 2005.  I did not know any reputable contractors and I was lucky to have come across him in 2005 concerning a den addition I wanted to do for my home.  Their quality of work was great.  Showed up for work everyday....cleaned up the area each day....and was very responsive to my concerns or needs.  Later in 2008, I called JKK to do my small office addition.  I was very satisfied with that work and when I wanted a carport build...I did not call anyone else.

I learned as a first time homeowner that you get what you pay for as far as work being done to your home.  Shoddy workmanship, not showing up and make you wait all day without a courtesy phone call, etc.  Finding a good contractor in this town is a crap shoot.  JKK is not the cheapest but not the most expensive.  My track record with these gentlemen is why I never called anyone else to have construction work done when I needed something for my home.  Armando Hernandez and his workers are honest and will not give you the runaround.

Perfectly!!!! They arrived on October 26th with the solid cedar fence already built. They worked all day and said that they would be back the end of the week which they were. I don't like to interview multiple contractors...which I did. Save yourself some time and aggrevation!!!! Call Armando at JKK Construction. He has many creative ideas. He calls if he is going to be 10 minutes late. WOW!! A very positive experience. A+++++

They came out to refurbish the house and ended up taking everything including the kitchen sink. The washer and dryer. They took all the insulation out of the walls. They took everything and claimed they took everything straight to the trash. I didn't see any of the items that were taken out of my house in there. They even took my camper because it had flat tires. They took all my furniture from the house and I have nothing left. I had an intercom for the entire house and he took the unit. I had a built in vacuum cleaner in the garage and he took that. He took the copper piping from the floor boards. He always tells me that he is going to start the building process back up but he wants to do it slowly. He keeps telling me that he doesn't have any money to re start the project. I had given him over $300,000 to do the project. He never gave me any receipts for any of my checks. They kept coming back and doing things. He wants me to sign a paper that says I can not speak about them to anyone. he has threatened me for many years, since 2011. Call me 24/7

"Dear member, While we don’t agree with some of the comments that were made, we appreciate any feedback we receive. This allows us to gauge where we are as a company so we can improve our overall customer satisfaction. In regards to this situation, which occurred back in 2010, the member received insurance money to pay for the restoration of her house after extensive fire damage. The member decided to use these funds for other purposes. After payment for services rendered was not received, the job unfortunately had to be put on hold. We can’t as a company stay afloat and continue to serve the needs of our loyal customers if we’re doing work for free. Again, we are appreciative to find out what our customers have to say about our work, and we take all feedback to heart. We do however, encourage other customers to look at other Angie’s List reviews to get a more accurate representation of the quality of work we provide all of our customers. Regards, Armando Hernandez"

I received very great service during the initial phone call, someone came out and gave me an estimate that same day. We are a child care center and they were willing to work late in the afternoon so our babies routines would not be effected. The doors work great and I could not be happier!

Selecting a contractor was the most nerve-wracking part of the whole experience. Armando is a Christian guy with high moral fiber. His crew has been with him for 18 years and that says a lot about the man. His recommendations for all the sub contractors that I used outside the ones he used all provided me with top-notch quality at more than fair price! I would recommend all except the plumber sub that Armando used. They did good work but did so at odd hours and assumed what I wanted that turned out to be wrong and they had to redo work that would've been avoided through dialog with myself. Armando was frustrated with them also by the time the project was over. The roofers, HVAC, electrician were all excellent.
Note: Very important! For a project this big, make sure you hire an Architect first and have detailed plans done up to your liking BEFORE hiring a contractor! Armando recommended this when I first made contact with him even though I was planning on doing it regardless. This is the only way to get an accurate estimate. If not, the contractor will hire an architect AFTER the estimate and under cut the estimate too much causing cost overruns and multiple headaches. We used CeDans Architect LLC (Daniel Mendoza). He was awesome and drew up plans per my vision. He also tweaked our initial concept as a 2nd option--we went with his tweaked concept as it was a much better use of space and the roof line made the addition look as though it was part of the original house construction. Nice guy was there whenever we had questions and came out a couple times during construction and after it was done to view the work. Overall, I couldn't be happier!
