"It was done by Mike Stapleford in the time and manner of a professional electrician with 30 years experience. He cleaned up after himself and was very pleasant. His charge was too low, and I increased the payment to amore reasonable amount. The following day, I gave his name and phone number at my company for use for future work there. I highly recommend Stapleford Electric."

"I had requested quotes from several businesses and George Sparks had the best pricing. They were very nice and great to deal with. "I would highly recommend Ken for electrical work. We had our full electrical panel replaced and service upgraded with him. Before we had it done, we had an issue with the main breaker repeatedly tripping- leaving us without power. He came out the same morning and did a quick fix to hold us over until permitting- we were not without power for long, thanks to him. The panel replacement and service upgrade was not a quick job, but he stayed late until it was finished and we couldn’t be happier with the quality. His prices are reasonable, as well. I will be calling him if we need an electrician in the future!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you need to run a wire from the meter to the breaker box, start by turning off the power using the main switch to avoid injury risks from live wires. Then, locate the ground wire from your meter and connect it to the ground bar of the breaker box. Connect the neutral wire using the same method to improve your circuit efficiency.

Next, locate the hot wires running from the main switch to the meter. To connect them to the correct terminals from meter to breaker, unscrew the nuts of the breaker hotwire terminals, insert the positive hotwire, and ensure it’s firmly attached. Finally, secure the wires with electrical tape and wire tie cables before re-securing your breaker box. Keep in mind that this process can be dangerous, so don’t hesitate to hire a local electrician.

Yes, many professionals offer surge protection to safeguard equipment from power fluctuations.

Electric bills tend to be lower in spring and fall because people use less electricity during these seasons. Milder temperatures allow for less use of heating and cooling, unlike during winter and summer, which usually bring more extreme temperatures.

When removing an old security alarm system, you likely won't need to remove any of the wiring. Wiring can either be left in place for a replacement system or capped off for safety and pushed into the wall. If you're uncomfortable with the wiring, or if it's badly damaged, contact a professional electrician for assistance with safe removal.

If your outlet is testing fine but keeps tripping, that’s a sign your GFCI outlet is working, but there’s a problem somewhere else. Try plugging in different devices and see if the outlet keeps tripping. If it’s not the appliance that’s causing the issue, it could be a problem in your wiring. Faulty wiring can be a source of electrical fires and other serious problems. We recommend arranging an inspection by an electrician if an outlet appears to be working but keeps tripping.
