We are a collective of artists and artisans who give life to objects and spaces. We revive furniture and look upon blank walls as canvases. I am the "Son" part of Henry & Son, the original artist's son and manager. Henry & Son started out as an effort to revive my father's art career. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw but was unable to pursue his passion in the U.S. as life got in the way. Now, with my initiative, he's been able to fully invest in his true calling and we've even been able to find a handful of other exceptional artists and artisans to join our enterprise.

"Henry did a stellar job painting my wall to mimic a wallpaper-esque design. His strive for perfection and detail resulted in an effect that one could only believe was produced by machine. After painting the initial stripe pattern, he crafted a unique stencil and meticulously applied it over each stripe, making sure the stencil components were perfectly equidistant from each other. Truly a master craftsman."

Carpenter by trade, with more than 10 years of experience in home renovation projects. Experience includes, but not limited to: Kitchen renovations, Bathroom renovations, & Custom woodwork, including custom kitchen cabinets, Minor repairs, Deck building and repairs, Door and window installations. Attention to detail and excellence in all my work.

"Greg was a lifesaver. I decided to move from New Jersey to Kentucky and it was overwhelming. Greg took charge. I needed some items to be disposed of from a storage unit. He came one evening and took care of that. Then he came back and loaded up that storage unit and my upstairs apartment, all by himself, during the process he communicated everything, was efficient and very professional. He drove my belongings to Kentucky and unloaded them all. My next plan is to build a house here and I’m 100% highing Greg to do the job. He’s highly skilled in all areas of renovations and construction, I’ve seen his work, he truly cares and is an expert in all areas and he goes above to make sure that you feel comfortable in all steps of the way. Thank you so much Greg!"

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

The best way to test the quality of a leather couch is to put your hands on it. If the upholstery is soft and warm, that’s a good indication that the quality is higher. It should also smell like traditional leather. If it smells like chemicals, you’re probably dealing with low-grade leather.

To safeguard your furniture and upholstered items, it's best to use plastic wrap or specially-made plastic sofa covers. However, you should avoid wrapping wooden furniture in plastic if you plan on storing it, as plastic can trap moisture and warp the wood, plus it may damage certain finishes. In either case, old blankets or moving blankets make excellent alternatives. For protecting delicate glass table tops and mirrors, bubble wrap is always a reliable choice.

The average time it takes to reupholster a piece of furniture is around eight hours, but it varies significantly based on the piece. A professional can usually reupholster smaller furniture units like dining chairs or small ottomans in two to three hours, while an entire sofa might take several days or up to a week. Antique furniture tends to take longer to reupholster because greater care needs to be taken to preserve the piece. Your timeline might be a bit longer if you need other repairs done, like sanding and refinishing wood components.

Paying to reupholster a piece of furniture means you want to hire the right upholstery service, especially for a piece that’s expensive or carries a lot of sentimental value. In your search for the right upholstery company, be sure to:

  • Ask around to see if friends or family know of any upholsterers

  • Find reviews of the company or individual

  • Look at the photo gallery of their work to see if they work on furniture like yours and if you like their work

  • Check qualifications and references

  • Ask the upholstery service if they work on furniture like yours, what their schedule looks like, how they handle payments, and how long the job will take

Paper moving pads, also called furniture wrapping paper or paper moving blankets, are sheets of recycled paper used to protect various items during moving. Similar to traditional moving blankets, paper pads are also reusable, making them a sustainable and cost-effective option for protecting your belongings during the moving process. Although they’re recycled, they still provide excellent protection against dust, dirt, and scratches.
