"There is only ONE word to describe Fabio...SPECTACULAR! I hired Fabio to finish coat my refinished basement (2000 sqft). DID AN AMAZING JOB in THREE DAYS! VERY happy and satisfied with his work. I would certainly recommend him and CERTAINLY hire him again for future drywall work! A true professional and artisan in his craft! If I could rate Fabio higher than this, I would!"

"It went great!! I had a lot more of my belongings in the way than I anticipated would be the case, but EMB worked with me. The interior of my townhouse looks great. Beny and his team were considerate, neat, and very professional . I would recommend EMB to my best friends and would hire them again."

"I had an excellent experience with Veyta's Painting. I was treated with respect and so was my property. The Veyta team arrived promptly, protected my furniture, and did a beautiful job repairing and painting my downstairs ceilings. I was also pleased with their fair prices and quality of materials. Feel free to use them!"

"Eric was prompt in contacting me for an estimate and was able to schedule our job to fit our schedule. The price quoted was fair and Eric was flexible with a few minor changes we requested to the work order. Eric and his crew arrived on time and completed the work in the time agreed upon. Their work was high quality and very professional. I will definitely contact Red, White and Blue for any of our future professional painting needs."

"We needed to remove old Popcorn Ceilings from our entire house. We also needed to remove wallpaper and paint one room. We got a few estimates from different businesses. â On The Job Paintingâ sâ price was on the medium to lower end but most of all, we were impressed with the owner, Keith. He responded to us right away and gave us an estimate. He seemed very informative and trustworthy. We decided to go with â On The Job Paintingâ and we couldnâ t be happier. The crew was on time and prepared everything really well. They cleaned up everyday and worked with us about what rooms to do to make our lives easier while we were still living in the house during this process. My wife and I would highly recommend this business to anyone. I would not hesitate to hire them again for my next project."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

You’ll get better results if you soundproof the whole wall. A hole through which light can pass can also let sound waves in. Acoustical or silicone sealant applied to holes and cracks can block enough sound to make a difference. However, the more layers absorb vibrations and slow or stop sound waves, the less noise you’ll have.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

If you’re installing new drywall, you may need to skim coat the drywall first for a smooth finish and to allow the primer to adhere to the wall. It’s only necessary if there are imperfections in your drywall due to issues with the studs or improper drywall installation. If you’re refreshing existing walls, you may want to skim coat if there are imperfections across the wall. As an alternative, you can repair your drywall and sand it for a smooth finish before painting.
