"There is only ONE word to describe Fabio...SPECTACULAR! I hired Fabio to finish coat my refinished basement (2000 sqft). DID AN AMAZING JOB in THREE DAYS! VERY happy and satisfied with his work. I would certainly recommend him and CERTAINLY hire him again for future drywall work! A true professional and artisan in his craft! If I could rate Fabio higher than this, I would!"

"Great experience with Rene' Advanced Drywall. Got what I felt was a fair price for the drywall repairs I needed done. Rene came by and made the repairs in an hour! The job was handled very professionally and Rene was a pleasure to work with. I'm very satisfied with the results, and there is no doubt in my mind about recommending him to others or calling him again for another job. Thank you!""

"Benny arrived when he said he would and worked to keep pace with his timeline. He would arrive at 9 and not leave till 7 if that’s what needed to be done. He installed drywall and redid electrical work and did a wonderful job. Finished it off by painting, which was great as well. Overall happy with the work done. Don’t mind the doors, window, or rug in the pictures. They’re being redone as well."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

Yes, drywall nail pops are a common occurrence in homes, both new and old, resulting from the settling and shifting of the structure over time. Though not present in every room or on every wall, encountering nail pops in different sections of a home is not unusual, particularly if the temperature, humidity, or foundation has experienced changes.

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

You can usually tell if you have plaster or drywall by touch (plaster is harder, colder, and smoother than drywall) or by tapping on it (drywall sounds hollow, plaster does not). If you still cannot tell, peek under an outlet cover and check the cut edges. The rough edges show the composition of the wall. You will see either drywall (two paper sheets sandwiching gypsum material) or only plaster material (no paper sheets).
