"I needed to have my floors replaced in a home I bought and needed it done pretty quickly. Jack was responsive and did everything very quickly before I moved in. I get a lot of compliments on the floors, and his estimate was $2000 less than the lowest estimate I got from other companies."

"Premier Carpet is a great source for flooring. I purchased a high quality hardwood floor product from Premier Carpet at a terrific price and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I’ll be installing upstairs flooring in the near future and I know that I will go with Premier Carpet for great service and pricing."

"I hired Extreme Flooring because they had the lowest price. But more important, after speaking to Steve, I got the impression that he really knew the business. Boy was I right! My 46-year-old floors looked brand new once he finished. And the best part? No dust! He set up the proper barricades, and nothing got through. And he cleaned up everything perfectly. Steve and his associate have such a friendly personality. They were a joy to have in my house. I was so happy that I immediately gave Steve's name to my realtor. You cannot go wrong choosing Extreme Flooring. They are the best!"

"Rodriquez the owner of Platinum Hardwood Floors and his crew performed a magnificent job on removing my carpet and installing my new vinyl plank floors into every bedroom of my home and to include the stairs as well. I was very impressed especiallywith the staircase. He was very knowledgeable in the subject matter of removing and installing any type of flooring. They completed the job within 2 days. They come into your home ready to complete the job and no time wasted. He was far the most reasonable priced as far as installing the vinyl flooring. I would like to say thank you Platinum Hardwood Floors for making my home look beautiful."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Princeton’s variable climate, with humid summers and cold winters, affects how flooring materials respond during installation. Wood flooring can expand or contract, so acclimating materials before installation is crucial. Spring and early fall are ideal for stable conditions. Consistent indoor heating in winter and moisture control in summer help prevent long-term issues. For basements, flooring contractors often recommend moisture-resistant materials due to frequent precipitation.

Helpful?

Flooring projects in Princeton often reveal hidden costs such as subfloor leveling, removal of old adhesives, or repairs for water damage. Homes built before 1978 may require asbestos or lead testing, which can be an added step. Permit fees, especially in historic neighborhoods, and disposal charges for old flooring materials are common. If radiant heating is present, specialized adjustments by a flooring contractor may also be necessary.

Helpful?

After a flooring installation in Princeton, maintain indoor humidity between 45-55% to protect your floors year-round. Use entry mats to minimize dirt and moisture, especially during snowy months. Schedule annual inspections with a flooring contractor to spot early signs of wear or climate-related damage. For hardwood, plan refinishing every 7-10 years. Historic homes may require specialized care to preserve original flooring character and comply with local guidelines.

Helpful?

Properties in Princeton with historic features, uneven subfloors, or intricate room layouts often complicate flooring installation. Basements are prone to moisture issues due to local soil conditions, requiring vapor barriers and careful material selection. Multi-story homes may need stairway transitions, and properties with radiant heating systems require coordination with experienced flooring contractors. Rental properties near the university often demand extra-durable flooring solutions.

Helpful?

Postponing flooring installation in Princeton increases the risk of subfloor deterioration, especially in older or historic homes where underlying issues can worsen quickly. Delays often allow moisture to seep in, leading to warping, buckling, or even mold growth. Prolonged postponement can also make it harder to match existing flooring styles, impacting your home’s appeal and making future flooring installation more complex for local flooring contractors.
