"Electrical in an older home can be complicated. We had several people give outrageous estimates or never show up to do the work. Stapleford electric was prompt in providing an estimate and completed the work with quality. The cost for installing a new outlet and bracing for a large, heavy chandelier was fixed cost and other work was a time and materials rate. Both were reasonable and they knew what they were doing with the old style wiring. We had an additional expense to get plaster repaired separately but that would have been the case no matter who did the electrical work - they referred us to a master plasterer which was great. I have no reservations to recommend or use Stapleford again."

Customers say: Quick response

"This was my first Tesla (Model Y) and needed to install the wall connector in my garage. That required running wires from my electric panel in the basement to my garage. In addition I wanted to future-proof to accommodate a second electric car (in future). Ryan was absolutely fantastic from very start to finish. He clearly understood my needs, suggested most appropriate solution/plan and executed the plan to perfection in a timely manner. Quality work at reasonable price. Ryan is a true professional who is quick to respond and a good person that you can trust. I highly recommend Ryan and can vouch for his work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Princeton, keep a digital multimeter, non-contact voltage tester, insulated screwdrivers, and wire strippers handy. Stock up on GFCI outlets, 15A and 20A circuit breakers, wire nuts, and surge protectors. For older Princeton homes, moisture-resistant supplies are helpful for basements, and outdoor-rated materials are essential for harsh winters, supporting both electrical safety and long-term reliability.

Helpful?

After electrical work in Princeton, promptly schedule a township or borough inspection to confirm code compliance. Test all new installations, update your home’s circuit map, and register any warranties. Monitor circuits and GFCI outlets, especially during humid months. Keep permit records for future home sales, notify your insurance provider of upgrades, and consider annual electrical safety inspections, particularly for older or historic Princeton homes.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work with other upgrades in Princeton can streamline your project, especially during kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, or HVAC improvements. Coordinating these tasks minimizes disruptions, reduces labor overlap, and simplifies permit processes. For historic homes or those adding solar panels, grouping upgrades ensures code compliance and can allow for a single inspection, making the process more efficient and less stressful.

Helpful?

When comparing quotes in Princeton, be wary of unusually low estimates, missing material details, or pressure to commit quickly. Professionals should clearly address permit requirements and historic district considerations. Lack of insurance, limited experience with older Princeton homes, or no local references are warning signs. Always expect detailed quotes that mention code compliance and demonstrate familiarity with Princeton’s unique housing stock.

Helpful?

To enhance electrical safety for families in Princeton, install tamper-resistant outlets and AFCI breakers, and use outlet covers during any work. Protect exposed wiring with conduit, and add GFCI outlets in areas where children or pets might encounter water. Whole-house surge protection and backup generator connections are smart for storm-prone Princeton. Always establish safe zones during projects and teach everyone the location of the main shutoff.
