"Geno was awesome! We discovered the loose siding on Saturday afternoon. Set up the project in Angi’s list talked with Geno almost immediately! I sent him pics of the two loose siding spots and he made an appointment with me for the next day (Sunday) at 12:30pm. He finished the repairs on not only the siding spots I identified, he fixed a 3rd issue that we did not even recognize! All repairs were complete in under an hour!! I would highly recommend Geno to anyone who needed repairs such as ours! Geno is Awesome!!!"

"The contractors did many things well, but the end of the job was a bit disappointing when they did not follow through on some of their promises.  They gave a detailed estimate, reviewed a variety of solutions to problems, and offered a good price, similar to one other other contractor (a third contractor wanted more than twice as much money). The resulting job looks good, and I have received complements from the neighbors. The inital portions of the job went so well that I was disappointed when problems developed at the end of the jobs.  The project manager promised my garden would be protected, but he was seldom present and crew threw old siding into the garden until I insisted they stop and I called the project manager.    The contract stated they were not to be paid their final payment until until the job was fully complete, yet they asked for the money even though they agreed some trim needed to be replaced as it was installed poorly.  They gave their "110% guarantee" that they would fix the trim if I paid in full. I foolishly believed to their sad story of how they needed the payment and their guarantee.  After paying, it took many weeks of calls,  before they replaced the trim, with the replacement trim lying in my front yard the whole time.  However, once I had reached the owner of the firm who had been away, they fixed the trim in a few days.  Their clean up work after the job was less than expected, including leaving a 10 foot long board in the yard.   So much of the work rated an A, but because of these issues I feel that I can only give them a B overall."

"Siding is beautiful. Gutters are nice. Our 2 day job took 2 weeks to complete. During install an exterior electrical box needed to be maneuvered so Siding could go behind it. This threw off electrical to a building that was tied to that outlet. No response from the warranty team other than pay an electrician to fix us and forward the bill for reimbursement. I asked for this in writing and got nothing. The gutter pitch is off and we were guaranteed it would be fixed with the installation of the new gutters. It was not and water drains directly onto an electrical outlet. The warranty dept is radio silent. The billing team was very quick to send us reminders, the bill, and more reminders."

Siding questions, answered by experts

The average cost to install stucco siding on a home is around $5,700, with most homeowners paying between $2,200 and $9,100. However, the total cost can range from $750 to as high as $22,750 depending on several factors. On average, you can expect to pay between $7 and $9 per square foot. Key cost factors include the size and complexity of your home, the desired color and texture, labor and material costs in your area, and whether you have a multi-story home. Specific applications have different costs, such as adding stucco over brick ($7 per square foot) or over wood siding ($8.50 per square foot). To save money, you can consider removing the old siding yourself or scheduling the installation during the off-season.

Little maintenance is required beyond periodic washing with a garden hose to remove dirt. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or pressure washers that might damage the siding.

The main differences between dutch lap versus clapboard siding have to do with their design and texture. Clapboard siding features flat, beveled planks stacked at a slight angle, offering a simple, traditional look. Dutch lap siding features a subtly concave surface along with a notch that creates a shadowed look between the boards. This eye-catching design often resembles wood grain and introduces a noticeable shadow line, making it more visually interesting compared to the simpler look of clapboard siding.

Steel and aluminum are two types of metal siding that are commonly used for residential and commercial buildings, but the materials have specific differences. Typically, steel is heavier and sturdier, fending off scratches and dents, while aluminum is lightweight and more prone to damage. Cost is another differentiating factor, as steel is more expensive than aluminum siding cost.

Contrary to popular belief, people still do use aluminum siding for their homes—but it’s much less popular than it was in the mid-1900s. The introduction of various types of vinyl siding as an affordable option reduced the demand for aluminum, which is prone to scratching and denting and needs to be repainted every five to 10 years. Given the abundance of house siding options, especially newer and more popular types like stone veneer siding, aluminum siding has simply just fallen out of favor.
