"We had a damaged roof and siding from high winds. J Cwanger was fabulous! Jeff explained everything and helped us choose the right siding and color roof. His workers were courteous and fast. Cleanup was perfect. Everything was exactly how he described. I would highly recommend this company without hesitation."

"This experience was second to none! EVERYONE on the team was respectful, and professional throughout the entire project. The sales rep. and project manager carefully listened, and helped us decide on a roofing system that was right for our home. All materials were delivered on time, and before the project began, as promised. The supervisor arrived well before the roofing technicians. The lead technician, and technicians arrived on time, made the introductions, and immediately began the work. My home, and property were protected from the removal of roofing materials, at all times. There are often unforeseen issues that arise with construction projects, and I was consulted every step of the way, BEFORE any action was taken! My roof was completed on time. The technicians took pride in their craft, and their mastery was evident in the beauty of our new roof. The yard was left free of all roofing debris, it was if no one was ever there. My recommendation is an enthusiastic YES!"

"I had my roof installed four years ago. They did an excellent job. The workers were pleasant and efficient. I had to call again for a problem with my downspout just the other day. They responded quickly. Again, the workman was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this company to others!!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Sticky shoes help, but you shouldn't be walking on the steel roof— let the pros do that. it's dangerous enough to walk on asphalt shingled roofs which have quite a bit of texture. Stone coating adds a lot of grip, but it still doesn't lock your foot down, so if you absolutely have to be on the roof, make sure you’re secured in another way, like with the harness and rope.

16-gauge galvanized steel staples with a minimum crown of 15/16 inches or 24 millimeters are occasionally used to install shingles. However, most shingle manufacturers or residential building codes don’t recommend staples as a roofing fastener. Roofing nails are preferred in most cases, especially in areas that get a lot of heavy wind.

Technically speaking, yes, verbal agreements and “handshake deals” can be legally binding contracts that will hold up in court, but the suing party will need to be able to prove that the parties entered into the contract. Even though verbal and handshake deals can be binding, it’s risky to rely on these types of agreements for anything, including roofing projects. Always aim to get your contract in writing, and make sure it includes all terms and that you don’t agree to additional terms that don’t appear in the contract.

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

You can put new shingles over old shingles, but most municipalities only allow for two layers of shingles before you have to rip off the old roof and start fresh. In some areas, only a single layer of shingles is allowed due to the weight a bundle of shingles adds to your structure. In most cases, it’s a good idea to remove your old shingles before you install new shingles, especially if you suspect that a roof leak may have compromised the decking underneath.
