"I am very pleased with the work by the provider. The workmen were very professional and responded to any questions or concerns that I had. The men worked in weather with a heat index of over 100 degrees, and only stopped a few times for water breaks. I was impressed by their work ethic. The concrete work exceeded my expectations and I would Pro-Crete for any other work I needed and recommend them to my friends and neighbors"

"The craftsmanship is incredible. The pattern is cobblestone and visitors believe it is real stone. There were a couple minor issues, including 4 feet wide instead of 3 in one area and a delay in getting our stairs attached. The crew is fantastic and very professional."

"We used quality 1st on two occasions in the past year to address water in the basement of our brownstone. They first addressed the problem from the crawlspace - installed a sump pump, water guard trench, and cleanspace wall system (they also added support to the ceiling, which is the floor of a kitchen above). Their approach was sound, the cost was fair, and we were very happy with their service and the work itself. They then returned to address water coming in from the main basement area - we worked together on a reasonable approach that included adding a 2nd sump pump, a water guard trench and cleanspace wall system only where needed. This required a lot of coordination and communication with our plumber as well - all went smoothly, work was performed and cleaned up professionally. So far, so good! I am in construction myself and I reviewed their approach with other professionals including an engineer, and I have a lot of confidence in their products, their pricing, and their work."

"I paid some neighbor kid to paint my roof and they ended up making a hole in it. I called these people up and they picked up right away. Thank goodness they said they could come out the same day and gave me a good estimate too. I would definitely recommend them and call them up for any other thing I need."

"They arrived promptly when expected and executed the work to my complete satisfaction. The injection holes for the lifting foam don't stand out too badly and they only had to drill a few of them. The sidewalk was lifted to its proper height. After the lift, the sealing was applied and coated with quartz sand, more attractive than the original black material."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Spring and fall are the best seasons for scheduling masonry work in Millville. Moderate temperatures allow mortar to cure properly without cracking. Winter temperatures regularly drop below freezing, halting exterior work without special cold-weather protection. Summer heat and high humidity dry mortar too quickly, causing weak bonds. Plan your projects for late spring or early fall to ensure lasting results and avoid delays from regional hurricane season rains.

Helpful?

Keep Type S mortar on hand, as it resists freeze-thaw damage perfectly. You should also stock masonry sealant, efflorescence cleaner for white salt deposits, and tuck-pointing tools for minor joint repairs. Store plastic sheeting to protect fresh repairs from unpredictable spring rain. Always confirm whether your planned structural masonry work requires a permit under NJ construction codes before starting any project to ensure your home stays safe.

Helpful?

Older homes built before 1960 are prime candidates for masonry work. Many historic properties feature brick facades, rubble stone foundations, and masonry chimneys that require regular upkeep. NJ experiences freeze-thaw cycles and high water tables that easily damage these older foundations and chimneys. Check your property for moisture infiltration or settling, especially if your home sits near former manufacturing zones. A local professional will handle necessary restorations safely.

Helpful?

Signs of failing repairs include mismatched mortar colors, flush joints that trap water, and returning stair-step cracks. If you spot flaking brick near repaired areas, an incompatible, overly hard mortar caused the damage. Persistent interior dampness or recurring white salt stains also signal that earlier repairs missed the actual moisture source. Correcting improper masonry work in historic Millville districts requires strict adherence to state preservation guidelines.

Helpful?

Inspect your property every spring after the freeze-thaw season ends. Look for damaged mortar joints, spalling brick, and foundation cracks. You should also check your chimney for visible cracking or smoke backdrafts before turning on your heating system in the fall. Noticeable white salt stains after heavy rain events clearly indicate moisture issues. Schedule your masonry work by early fall before temperatures drop below freezing in Millville.
